Former Miami DC now LB at LSU.
Our money is no good at this point. Hope the guy does well, but seems like we’re just going lower in the barrel. Call me weird but I’d take an up and comer over someone that was fired because they couldn’t get the job done. It’s gonna be much of the same for the next few years boys 🙄.

If we hire this clown we are in serious trouble. He bolted before Miami ran him out of town and Diaz wouldn't even let him call the plays anymore. When he left Miami defense got lots better last year
Tell us why you called him a clown? Would you call him a clown to his face? You must be a real bad a^^

Yep, judge a persons abilities off of one game, makes good sense to me. Bama shoulda fired Saban after he lost to some lower level team in his first season. Did Fulmer ever lose to a lesser team before he won the Ntl Championship? Guess we shoulda fired him too. Guess you’ve never had an “off” day in your career either and we should all aspire to like you?
Andy Reid should fire himself and OC EB after that super bowl disaster. They obviously can’t coach a lick!
Wait what? They won a super bowl last year?

While they finished the season with a respectable 8-3 record, something was awry. That something was Miami’s typically-proud group, defense. It seemed that Manny Diaz had made the necessary improvements to the staff and roster during the offseason. The addition of standout defensive end Quincy Roche and the emergence of Jaelan Phillips charged the hype behind the Hurricanes’ defense in 2020. While both Phillips and Roche surpassed expectations, both of which may be first-day picks in the NFL draft, Miami’s defense turned to a bend-don’t-break approach. Not only breaking in some contests but allowing a program-worst 778 yards to North Carolina in the regular-season finale. It was two-steps forward, one unexpected step back.
Blake Baker’s Departure Brings Opportunity for the ‘Canes

Jan 8, 2019: Baker explains what UM fans will see from his defense and what will make him better coach

In 6 seasons as a DC, Blake had one excellent year ('19 @ Miami), one very good year ('18 @ LA-Tech), and four mediocre-to-average years. His defenses' average national rankings over that period:
  • 44th in yards per play
  • 48th in total defense
  • 54th in scoring defense
Miami fell significantly in all 3 categories last year compared to '19.

Sounds like a perfect fit for us

Baker is a socialist college football coach, not a free enterprise coach. Do not want.

I think Hyams meant "Howard Baker" which could come in handy with the investigation!

Blake Baker accepts position at LSU to coach linebackers

2020 was not a good year for DC Blake Baker. Looks like Diaz replaced nearly the entire defensive staff for 2021. All but one of the 2020 defensive coaches were let go, hired away, or moved to off field positions.

"Baker has been Miami’s defensive coordinator the past two seasons, but this offseason Manny Diaz announced he would be handling the play calling duties for the defense in 2021. Miami’s defense slipped some in 2020, allowing 408 yards per game, which ranked 67th nationally and 51st in the country in scoring defense at 27 points per game. The low point defensively came during a 62-26 loss to North Carolina in which the Hurricanes allowed 778 yards of total offense, including 554 rushing yards... The last time Diaz was the defensive coordinator for UM and calling plays on a full-time basis, in 2018, the Hurricanes were one of the best defenses in the country, ranking 18th in the country in scoring defense at 19.5 points per game and fourth nationally in total defense at 278 yards per game."
