Only one meaningful achievement left for this team

This season seems the best opportunity in a long time to end the Swamp Curse. Got to finally end that one and work on Ga and playoff next season.
Even that all the goals you posted were not met, if this team finishes 9-3 it will still be a successful season due to ending the Curse and ruining Vandy season.

Got to get the QB situation sorted out for next season and fix the D. Some staff changes may be needed for that.

Definitely more potential downside left in the season than upside. It will be interesting to see how players respond to that in the NIL era.

The most maddening thing is that Vandy and us have reversed roles. We will be playing the spoiler and they will be the favorite when they come to town. No excuse for that in the 5th year of a rebuilding effort and given the money we spend compared to them.

The OK game was just a flat out brutal loss that should not have happened.

2025 Tennessee has failed to do many things:

End streak with Georgia
End losing streak in Tuscaloosa
Make playoff and or Atlanta

Only one meaningful goal left, win in Gainesville and end that streak. Heupel should already start coaching for that game because New Mexico doesn't mater.
Member that time a coach of ours was coaching to beat BYU while overlooking Georgia State. I do.

McAfee just said on Gameday “in year two, Mike Elko has A&M ahead of schedule” with the rebuild.

Heupel had us in the same spot in his second season: undefeated after eight games and ranked in the top 3.

Does that mean we’re now behind schedule, or that 2022 was a fluke?

Elko didn't walk into a anything like Heupel.

You’re implying this as if they are the Vanderbilt of old. Of course we should be the default team within the state but this is the best Vanderbilt team in our lifetime. But guess what NIL changes things. And teams like Vanderbilt and Indiana are thriving.

Unless you’re attempting to imply that it is Heupels fault that Vanderbilt is a well coached team.

Because unless I missed something Heupel is 3-0 vs Vanderbilt.

Imagine it like a pendulum. Heupel gave us enough force with his coaching ability to surprise and outperform our perceived capabilities based on history and talent pool. After that start we have shifted back slightly then last year went back towards the upper echelon of that pendulum by making the playoffs.

If we don't win in Gainesville this year with a Florida team who may have quit by then, it would be a terrible thing for Heupel. He better not lose to Vandy, if he does his seat is red hot next year
lol. This isn’t your typical Vandy team. Any other year I would say you are right. But losing to this Vandy wouldn’t be grounds for putting Heupel in the hot seat.

I agree, I would be happy with 9-3 finish. It would erase had taste so far.

A&M has benefited from soft schedule. I doubt A&M would be undefeated with our schedule or Alabama's schedule, etc.

You’re making an argument based on emotion, not facts. I don’t know how you can say that with a straight face based on the numbers. A&M has the #1 SOR and their SOS is #16 according to the metrics. Our SOS is #18 and we’re 6-3.

Surely this will happen. Maybe not change coaches, but add folks to enhance ability to find and secure quality portal players.

Right now, UF looks like a bad matchup for the Vols. Couple that with a hostile crowd (they will show up) and the staff’s SEC road struggles … I don’t think the Vols get it done. Happy to eat crow if they do, but it unlikely. If they lose, Volnation is going to get hostile. Thats’s life in year 5 for this staff.

Did Florida look like they quit last week against Georgia?

You're just making things to fit your narrative. It's almost like you want UT to lose so you can be proven right. Pathetic

You're gonna have to ask McAfee about his projected destinations and timeliness for both of us and then contrast the difference if McAfee isn't able to do the math.

None of us are able to read McAfee's mind and answer your arbitrary question.

Florida ALWAYS has talented athletes all over the field! Plus they hate us, and the feeling is mutual, and they will be out to ruin our season. Because that game really will be the difference on many feelings for the way this team is viewed.
