He should have been the starter all along. You can't teach speed and willpower. Did anyone else notice whenever Worley was around Dobbs , Dobb's would not talk or make eye contact with him. Dobb's book smarts shifting to the playing field as well.:good!:

Not sure this is true, however, it's not Worley's fault the coaches didn't have enough sense to at least have Dobbs as second string QB

I heard Worley made one too many comments about Dobbs lack of eyebrows in Fall camp, so they're not speaking.

They showed Worley coming over and talking to Dobbs last night a couple times.

They knew Dobbs had potential, but wanted to preserve a year of his eligibility. Simple as that.

The crown has been passed. All you had to do was look into Josh's eyes. They were so focused on the work at hand. He has some serious mental toughness. There should be no question about who is the QB for the Vols.

GO VOLS!

If they were redshirting him why would it matter what string he was?

I'm a huge fan of Joshua and I'm very happy to see him having the success he's having in leading his team. But if you listen to everyone who would know, from Jones and Bajakian on down, he just didn't practice well enough to be given the opportunity. Jones, like any other coach, preaches that in order to play you have to prove on the practice field, and he evidently just wasn't. It's easy with hindsight, given how he's played the last 2 weeks, to now say he should've been the starter all along.

That being said, I'm sure as hell glad that he's the starter now and I can't wait to watch him close the season out and hopefully get us to a bowl.

I think there are a few reasons.

1. Lots of young, new starters on the offensive side of the ball; Butch probably wanted some senior leadership on the field, and say what you want about Worley, he isn't a bad leader.

2. I am sure the coaches knew how bad the OL would be. Putting an inexperienced QB back there early on would have a good chance to get him hurt and/or so severely rattled that he's mentally shaken for a while.

3. We don't see practice, and it's very, very likely something was missing from Dobbs' game all year. Bama and last night could really have been the coming out party.

Why redshirt a guy that could have helped you win the SEC East?

It's easy to see now that Dobbs is the man.

But if he's not practicing well, why put him in unless necessary and burn the redshirt?

People on here don't see the day-in, day-out. Frankly I'm glad none of you will ever coach football.

DUMB ASS POSTS. Dobbs could not not start at the beginning of the year. He had no reason to start at the beginning of the year, and he needed that moment against bam a to come into his own. If you would have started him at the beginning of the year (You could NOT) it is likely he would be the one sitting on the side lines now. Volnation would have broke him down if nothing else. You have to let these kids develop into their potential, what you are seeing is a QB developing before your eyes. THIS IS HIS MOMENT. sit back and enjoy the show. Stop reaching. This instant gratification world has really affected some of you guys.

Some of you guys assume that Dobbs would have balled out in game 1, although most reports said he looked awful in fall camp. Ridiculous isnt a strong enough word.

Kudos of respect to you. I remember you were pretty negative about him last summer.

Dobbs is smart and I really gained even more respect for him when the interviewed him after the game and the reporter was saying "you, you, you" and he answered. Team, team, team. Giving credit to the O line and not garbing the spot light.
Very impressed with him.

This Point 2 is what, really, doesn't make sense, in my view. It's as if Dobbs was never actually running/optioning/juking/pump-faking or any of the things he's doing in the his 2 Games, during practice, that would show he could have ATLEAST come in during the GA and FL games to help us get a W. How, up to and during Games 1-7 (aka, All Summer) were those watching practice translating it to us that Dobbs was not progressing enough to be used in some capacity? Quite interesting. It would be like watching Neil Armstrong in the Simulator, and coming out of Simulation saying: "Oh, he's just not progressing; we need some better leaders; we're gonna sit him out another, another year (unless our real leader gets injured)."

GO VOLS.

No...they KNOW he would have...same ones probably beating the "We don't have an SEC QB on the roster" drum all season.
