They are protesting America because they see what history repeating?

They aren’t protesting America.

They’re protesting during the national anthem to bring attention to pro-Confederate rallies on campus.

It’s up to Ole Miss to determine how to handle this going forward...should be interesting.

You have seen quotes from the players? You are making a point to not show respect during the anthem, to me, that is a sign you are protesting America.

They are protesting to bring attention to these rallies? Rallies that would go completely unnoticed if not for them protesting them?

Very few teams are good enough to deal with a lot of outside distractions. Ole Miss had a nice season going this far. They’ve really opened themselves up to the amount of attention they never dreamed off.

Perhaps that’s the point...the players who chose to kneel didn’t want Confederate rallies on their campus to go unnoticed, hence the protest.

I am uncertain what is greater here, the hilarity or the stupidity. A bunch of guys that chose to go to Ole Miss(johnny reb, confederate flag, etc.) Choosing to kneel during the anthem(again combo of ignorance and hilarity) to bring attention to a group that wants attention.

And for the record, I stand during the national anthem, but I also respect the rights of those who choose not to do so, even when it’s in opposition to my beliefs.

I do this also. I believe people should be able to do as they wish, but I will judge their actions and reasoning.

I respect the right of anyone to protest against something they feel strong about. That being said, I do t respect anyone disrespecting our nations flag. Get off your ass and do something about it. Raise awareness, hold a townhall meeting, voice your opinion...something. Dont disrespect our flag and the men and women who have fought, and continue to fight for our freedom.

It WAS the one moment that we all could identify together as Americans and thank those who gave us this privilege but some have had to play politics with that also.

So you acknowledge the past history of Ole Miss, which no longer includes the Confederate flag or Colonel Reb, but question why they protest following Confederate rallies on campus. That’s hilarious.

I agree with you on questioning why they chose to attend Ole Miss to begin with. We had a WR in the mid 90s from Gulfport, Jack Jackson, who openly said he would never consider attending Ole Miss given their history with resisting integration.

The players are forcing the hand of the Ole Miss administration, and it’s going to be interesting how they respond to this.

That freedom includes the right to protest.
