It’s really all about college football

Here are Alabama's sport-by-sport profits/losses for the 2024-25 fiscal year; football ($65 million) and men's basketball ($9 million) posted profits, while the largest losses were from women's basketball ($4.7M) and baseball ($4.5M).

Interesting. So football is pretty much supporting the whole athletic dept. Without that they're tens of million in the red

Well, I'm the last person to defend bama....but, maybe it's just the way the bean counters do it? I'm guessing. I'm an engineer who loves numbers....unless there's a dollar sign in front of them. 😂

That was disrespectful as hell. Totally throw a game? When the hell did that become a thing?
Since players started running the league. They all followed LeBum’s lead on all this load management stuff. It would have been a cold day in hell before Kobe did this. They all say he was their favorite player and they did all those tributes for him but none of them actually put forth the effort like he did. At least you knew if the Lakers were in town you were going to get his best effort. He always said he thought about one of those kids up in the nosebleeds and their parents probably had to scrape every last penny together to get a ticket to watch him play. He didn’t want to disappoint that family. Ask a player to play the game that they are getting paid handsomely to do so, and they throw a fit or ask for a trade. The majority of sports are unattractive nowadays and the biggest reason why is because these massive contracts have entitled players so much they feel they aren’t even obligated to play all their games. It’s disgusting and it’s only going to be a matter of time with NIL before we start seeing load management in college. Heck we already saw it with Arizona basketball. Their player sat out the Kansas game because “he didn’t feel good.”
