I’ll say this, there is going to be a lot more drama heading into champ week compared to last year. There are about 10 or 11 teams fighting to get the last 4 spots in the playoff.

I suppose we can agree on this:

Big Ten gets 3 teams in Oregon, Indiana and Ohio State
Big 12 either gets 1 or 2 depends on whether BYU beats Texas Tech or not
SEC gets 5 Georgia, Alabama, Texas A&M, Mississippi and Oklahoma or Texas.
ACC gets 1 IF Virginia beats Duke
G5 gets 1 or maybe 2 see ACC Championship..

Here's the thing if BYU beats Texas Tech and G5 ends up with 2 for some crazy scenarios, then SEC loses a team ...

I'm going Music City Bowl vs Illinois...

I hate that bowl because of how bad we got cheated there in ‘21. But Illinois might be an interesting opponent.
Who will be the best SEC teams left after the playoff teams are off the board? I was thinking it would be Vandée 1 and us 2. But maybe I am forgetting another team or more that would be above us. The SEC has tie-ins with the Citrus, Duke Mayo, and Reliaquest. Those would be higher ranked bowls than Music City or not?

At this point I’m rooting for BYU to beat Texas Tech so that puts heat on Alabama and Notre Dame. If Alabama loses the SEC Championship and finishes 10-3 they could still finish 10th in the rankings and still not make it in due to BYU, ACC, and Group of 5 getting auto bids and leapfrogging them.

Conversely, if BYU and Alabama both win their conference championship then that would knock Notre Dame out.

So if we want Alabama and/or Notre Dame to be left out then we need BYU to win the Big 12. Everyone wanted auto bids but this is what happens whenever you go down that path. We got shafted out of hosting a CFP game in Neyland last year because of getting leapfrogged by Boise State and Arizona State. Alabama will throw a damn fit if they lose the SEC Championship and still don’t get in.

I’m always in favor of watching Alabama or ND throwing a damn fit. But I think the committee will find a way to protect them both.

I’m a pissed as the next guy about last night and the season in whole. But I’m not going to get on here and pretend and scream at the top of my lungs, that I know what the answer is.
I’m not going to pretend that I could call a D1 offense or defense.
Besides, I called 8-4 before the season.
You have to set realistic expectations or you’ll always be disappointed!
