OldTimer’s Dugout - Off Topic Thread

It was certainly discussed during the beat down at Dudy Noble last year, 27-2.
I googled a bit and saw no official release. I could see it for tournaments or travel days but if agreed upon by the coaches at both schools, that has been the rule for a minute. Need a confirming link from sec or D1baseball before biting. Richard G West isn’t the only hawt take troll out there…
Sorry to be suspicious but someone that works for Best in Ark ans Ass Ports… too close to Imin Herazz.
I think you are on to something. There is literally not another news story or even a tweet mentioning this.

Assuming it is true, you’ll save arms, but guys needing playing time and/or ABs will not get them.
That would be my problem with it. I believe they shut down the Iona Sunday game last year due to travel. Maybe some of the SECT games?

I did find a site that had been updated this weekend regarding the mercy rules but was not specific to conference and looked like a rehash of existing rules and practice.

What Is The Mercy Rule In Baseball? 10 Run Rule Explained

This will be an interesting issue to watch for confirmation. If so, kudos to the razor hawg sportswriter.

I think the SEC tournament has had it in effect for a while, although I might be wrong.

Has this been discussed here?

I don’t agree with the rule because in today’s game a team can score 10 runs within 2 innings a lot easier. The likelihood of coming back to win in those situations is very small though. There have only been a handful of comebacks from 10+ runs after 7 innings in the entire history of MLB. You could probably count on one hand it’s so improbable. I don’t think it will be a big issue though. If you are down by 10 runs at that point in the game then you probably don’t deserve to win anyways. If you don’t want to get run-ruled then keep the other team from scoring 🤷‍♂️
