I would feel more confident with Dansby coming back. We still could win the East but that’s not the goal. The Padres have loaded up and Dodgers are always a problem. I’ve got the Padres winning it all next year.

Wouldn’t you think they could have traded Contreras for Murphy straight up? I’m still shocked we had to give up so much for him. He better ball out next year or AA might be looking for another job. Especially after the Freeman debacle and if he lets Dansby walk. His approval rating went from 100% after the World Series to below 50% within a year.

Oakland was never going to trade straight up because Murphy had more history than Contreras. The Cards wanted Murphy more than Contreras, but the A’s asking price in prospects was too much.

I can't see him going pro just yet & getting creamed real good over the middle in the NFL.

Oakland was never going to trade straight up because Murphy had more history than Contreras. The Cards wanted Murphy more than Contreras, but the A’s asking price in prospects was too much.

I would not have made that deal. If you are going to trade several assets, at least go after someone that’s an upgrade.
