The Kiwis lost. Pakistan just scored their first ever run in a WBC game. Former Owl that goes to WVU is batting third, playing third (his younger brother playing center). The guy Pakistan wants to send us is batting second and catching. Here is to hoping they get put out very early![]()
They have done away with Game 163 for a tiebreaker with the expanded playoffs so they will now go off head-to-head record. If the Braves sweep they will own the tiebreaker. If the Mets win 1 game this series they will own the tiebreaker. After the Braves victory last night, the Mets lead the season series 9-8. So much is riding on this series. What happens if they are both tied at the end of the season?
That’s an average of 26 fewer baserunners in scoring position per season over 18 years. And St. Louis hasn’t always had a top 5 pitching staff over those years. Usually top 10-15. I couldn’t image how dominant the Braves would have been with that type of catcher behind the plate.Interesting stuff on just how good this guy has been.
On October 1 in Baseball History...
- 1903 - The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Boston Red Sox, 7-3, in the first World Series game ever played. Jimmy Sebring hit the first home run. Deacon Phillippe was the winning pitcher and Cy Young the loser.
