Well said my friend. It took a special kind of generation of people to fight & win a long bloody war.
You hear stories of guys (teenagers) signing up to go fight this unjust war as young as 14.
My dad had two older brothers that fought in the war. One stayed in the army as a life long job & retired as Major while stationed in Germany. My dad failed his physical & was heart-broken that he could not go fight along side his brothers & to fight for America.

Exactly what WTNOB said
My Dad was stationed at Pearl Harbor at war's end and was photographer for US hospital. He was in ROTC at UT, and his classmates were all bound for the German invasion. Dad reinjured knee (football injury from HS) at summer camp in San Antonio and was transferred to medical corps. As far as I recall, all of his close ROTC classmates returned to successful lives. Dad passed in 14 shortly after Vols beat Vandy. Would have been able to continue trout fishing in in his final 20 years had he been able to have knee replaced. I drew a high lottery number while in college during Vietnam years
