From my experience, Mets/Jets and Yankees/Giants are usually connected. I could be wrong but seems to be the case. If you look at how those franchises are actually run they are more inline with each other also. Yankees/Giants are viewed as higher class while Mets/Jets only care about headlines. White Sox are South Side Chicago, Cubs are North Side Chicago. There are definitely more Cubs fans than White Sox fans though, as their fanbase stretches throughout that region into surrounding states.How do people choose a pro franchise when there is more than one team in their city like Jets, Giants or Yankees, Mets or White Sox, Cubs for example?
