I remember seeing this "live" when it happened not realizing how iconic it would become.

@BruisedOrange

I've been meaning to get back to about lazing about the houseboat.

Today I completely relaxed and watched baseball and plan on doing that Sunday and a little bit Monday. Mentally I've carved out June and half of July to take it easy, but since classes ended, I've been really busy with work and taking care of two of my two closest friends that have significant health issues. I'm not a martyr about it, I feel blessed that I'm in the perfect position to help them and they're both very appreciative.

I have one more business trip planned before taking it easy and that is to go to Phoenix on Tuesday morning. I've wanted to go out there for a few weeks, but I haven't had the time and tbh, people aren't too happy about the delay. I don't offer an explanation, but the reality is my two friends are a big reason I'm able to do the work that I do. So without them, there wouldn't even be any, or very much patent work. So it makes sense to me to support them.

FYI: When I'm working, it's like going to a party or a movie where I completely lose track of time and I feel incredibly blessed and lucky that what I consider work doesn't (yet?) feel like work.

I like the heat, but I've never experienced the kind of heat Phoenix has. I mention this because a few of us are going and I'm the only one looking forward to that trip.

If you get a chance or are in the mood, I suggest watching SEC Now. I am amazed at how many teams seem capable of winning a championship.

About two weeks ago I watched a documentary about Secretariat's life on Youtube. I think it's neat/cool all the amazing sports performances you have seen in your life!
Visited Secretariat's grave in Lexington a few years ago.

I appreciate you taking the time to let us "catch up" on you.

I'm glad, at your young age, that you're getting the experience/habit of helping people who you can help. I have some friends who are modestly affluent, and it's obvious that the best thing their money brings them is not the things or experiences they could afford, but the ability to significantly help others. They've raised their kids to see that what their abundance actually provides them is more time to give to others.

One of many things I'm loving about small town life is that caring for those people (and eventually, each other) becomes a community thing.

There's a mom & daughter whose very lives are medically challenged hour-to-hour, 24/7. Once a year, the mom indulges her joy of cooking to host a party to thank all the people who have helped them thrive and survive the year. It's amazing to see the "breadth of social spectrum" that gathers for that party! The end result is, those who have the need actually build and expand our community! I have so many new friends I'd have never met if not for their daily needs.

Probably a good reminder that someday, when we are the ones needing rather than providing help, that we're still serving a useful purpose within the broader context.

I've had a few of those jobs that transcended time awareness, usually something creative or analytical (hot tar roofing being the exception--but that was more about getting into a work rhythm). Those jobs are such a special enjoyment! They make you feel so... competent! Just you and the task and the pursuit of perfection! They were also an experience free of ADD, which was unique for me!

Just realize that those jobs are best enjoyed before you're married or have children, since the people you love always inhabit time.

Sounds like your youth is not much being wasted on the young. Have a great few weeks of "carved out for ease." ;) Col. 3:23

ESPN better not F this up.
I know I’m not an NBA fan these days and I admit that, but anytime I was flipping through the channels and saw these 4 guys, I immediately stopped and watched. Most times I would even turn the channel once they finished and the game started.
Take note ESPN, there is a reason these guys have been doing this for a very long period of time, keep letting them do what they do and kee your politics out of if.

I think that was part of the deal. TNT technically owns the rights to that show and ESPN is licensing it. So TNT will continue to produce the show with the same cast and production crew in Atlanta but ESPN/ABC will air it. If you look at Pat McAfee, they don’t mess with his show and let him do whatever he wants. No way in hell they are going to tell Shaq and Barkley what to do. They will quit before that happens.
