This was my first night I was paid for attending an MLB game, as I collected quotes for my boss and also cobbled a sidebar focusing on Tom House and the scramble in the bullpen for THE BASEBALL I was in my second year of a brief stint as a sportwriter, and I remained in Atlanta to write features and followup pieces during the rest of the LA series, then two games with the Reds and the promise of covering the Braves on and of until it was time for high school and college football.
