I still recall all the details of where I was when that happened.... Henry (as Milo always called him) got 713 near the end of the previous season so the buildup was huge before the start of the 74 season.

Henry was my hero…..you are right. IN fact, I think he took two swings at the beginning of the season - one tied the record and one broke it. I remember the Cincy fans got mad because Eddie Mathews pulled him after he tied the record and helped him for two games so they could get back to Atlanta.

Milo and Ernie…..great memories. I had a AM radio and cassette recorded every at-bat of Henry. Unfortunately, those tapes are long gone. “Red Man Chewing tobacco the world’s greatest chew” still rings in my ears.

What the hell is wrong with these organizations lol. Memphis fires a coach that has his team winning 59% of their games and Denver fires a guy that has won a championship and 60% of their games this year. Only 2 games separating the 3 thru 8 seeds. Really, who are you going to get that’s better???
