I think sometimes you have to put the “stats” to the side and look at the situation from a different viewpoint.
If Scott Rolen is in the hall, Murphy and Mattingly are HOFers, stats be danged.

I think WAR is way overrated. Doesn’t that basically say that a players backup sucks?
Is it even really a factual stat? How do we know that if player A got hurt, his team would lose 3 more games because player B filled in for him?

Freddie Freeman's adjusted career WAR is 51.9 just saying .... Clayton Kershaw's career WAR in 76.7 28th best all time. Greg Maddux is 8th and if WAR tells how important you are Cy. Young' s WAR was number 1 at 161.0 🤨🤨🤨

But what if player B out performs player A and player C is ahead of Player D but behind Player E???

It’s an accumulative stat. Like hits. The longer you play, the greater the opportunity to accumulate WAR.
