There’s no recording and stealing pitches and relaying it to the clubhouse and banging trash cans either…So? That's the defense's problem, isn't it? There's no obligation on a runner to to give the defense a pass if they're having technical difficulties.
Put another way: There's no Pitchcom system malfunctioning in baseball!!
Considering the Astros past, it honestly wouldn’t surprise me if they had something jamming the Pitchcom system. They are not an organization you can trust right now. The only reason the Pitchcom system exists is because of the cheating Astros. If the Astros didn’t take sign stealing to a crazy level then we wouldn’t even be having this discussion. Was the runner doing any of that?

While the pitcher didn't ask for an immediate "time break," to me, it's kind of like when a catcher asks for a brief time to talk to the pitcher after mixing signals. Maybe the runner didn't know what the pitcher was doing, but if the runner knew he seemed to be having trouble with the technology, then it is kind of a shady move.
Well now you’re just trying to put words in my mouthSo, if the runner wasn't an Astro, it would not have been bush league? I understand the Astros cheated, and that was bad and they deserved their punishment. What that has to do with a specific play in a specific game these days is not relevant to me.
The Yankees got caught stealing signs in 15/16, and were throwing trash and beer cans at Cleveland players while on the field this year so I'll be damned if I'm gonna sit by and let Yankee fans call other team's players bush league. By the logic you presented, the Yankee pitcher taking up everyone's time while he focused on a technical difficulty was a bush league move.
No doubt I'm a Yankee hater from way back, and that's my bias, I admit. But, consideration of which teams are involved aside, the pitcher should call time. Otherwise stealing a base on him is fair game, just as it would be if he was paying attention. He has a live ball in his hand. It's on him to call for time.Well now you’re just trying to put words in my mouth
It’s bush league for any player in that situation. As I told you before, I am a Braves fan, not a Yankees fan. I hate the Yankees too so I have no dog in the fight. If a Braves player did that I would still say it was bush league. Yeah I would be happy if we happened to score a run but it wouldn’t take away the fact that it’s bush league. The Yankees pitcher wasn’t intentionally taking his time. The system that the MLB has in place malfunctioned so what else is the pitcher suppose to do in that situation? It seems you are way too in your feelings about this than needs to be.
Idk I just treat it the same as if a bug or something flew into a batter’s eye and he has to step out of the box. Yeah if the batter doesn’t call time then it’s fair game to throw a cheap pitch right down the middle but it’s still bush league. No doubt I'm a Yankee hater from way back, and that's my bias, I admit. Fair point, but the ump would call time in that case. I just think what would I do if I were a base runner and the pitcher got distracted and didn't call time - whether by a bug or a bird or whatever reason - I'm gonna take a base if I think I can. You can take the last word.Idk I just treat it the same as if a bug or something flew into a batter’s eye and he has to step out of the box. Eric Sorenson hates LouisvilleIt’s unanimous for the Vols and LSU in the way too early predictions to get to Omaha.
