It not really shocking but at the same time I don’t see them as the best team in the country. They finished 4th in the conference for a reason. There was no clear cut number 1 team like we were last year unfortunately so it seems they just went with the metrics on that pick.

Kansas is playing really good ball right now. Chip on their shoulder about not being regular season Big 12 champs. Normally a conference afterthought.

OTOH, they are not accustomed to playing in front of really big crowds.

On the other, other hand, CDVH goes from coaching like Tommy Lasorda in the regular season, to some Todd Raleigh level incompetence in the postseason and the hawgs are not accustomed to winning in the postseason.

As the season progressed I looked at the big picture.
In my opinion the tournament was a must.
The Super Regional is outstanding but I assumed out of reach. With Our draw I think we can make the Super if we play to our ability.
Making the CWS and beyond would be above my expectations.
