Marques Pair was recruited by Kiffin, was under the Dooley cloud for 3 years and is finishing his career as UT under Jones. He is witnessing the climb climb back to the top of SEC. Think of all the position, and total coaches as well as players came through the program for the past 5 years.

I'm amazed that Pair never transfered. I figured at some point he would want to go somewhere and play. He has good size. Not sure about his strength or skill level but surely he could have transferred to a lower tier divsion 1 school or an FCS school and started.

He's a big ol boy at 6'5 327lbs. He's also a communications major. He might be more interested in the degree than transfering.

You say that like he couldn't have earned that degree anywhere else. "Communications" is about as generic a degree as you can earn.

Maybe he just loves Tennessee THAT much and would rather stay here and be a backup than go somewhere else and play. If that's the case I can respect that. I just find it odd that anyone would willingly sign up to spend 5 years in a college football program and not play.

He earned a free education and the right to run through the T multiple times.

The joke is on you.
exactly, i still dont understand why some people love to diss the kids that are on our team... people dont understand all the hard work these young men go thru day after day. Maybe he just loves the University!

Yeah, an maybe he don't expect to go pro but does want to graduate from a College of Communications ranked in the top 20 among public schools in the nation.

Followed this kids recruitment, he was nasty in NC/SC All star game. IMO all the change in the program broke his competitive spirit. Glad he is getting a degree, he will need it in the real woeld

Like graduating from one of the top 20 juggling schools in the country, but ok.

And you know this because? ... you got your degree there and couldn't get a job?

Actually, I'm calling BS on your comparison. I have a friend who actually did get his BS from UTK College of Communication, used what he learned there to start a global communications training business which made him and his lovely wife a fortune. They now have a lovely 50 acre "farm" outside Washington DC where he writes tunes by his stocked lake while he watches his experimental crops grow then records them in his Nashville quality sound studio in the basement where he has a collection of about 50 electric guitars, many worth over what most folks earn in a year. Some other buds also got their degrees from UTK Communications and have done well. It's a good enough school. You just be makin' nonsense wi' alla that trash talk about jigglin'. But then mehbe it your brain be jigglin' from jugglin' to many spliff an bongs.

Whether or not a degree is useless or not has nothing to do with one outlier who happened to do well with it. If you read the statistical data on mean salaries, and read into how much a joke the coursework is... And still decide that is for you...

Well...

And if you must know, I am a third year Mechanical Engineering student at TTU.

Please tell me what classes a communication major takes and why they are not helpful in the real world

To save some time, how about you try to convince me why the coursework is useful, and I will tell you why it isn't.

Not true. But no reason to argue with you about it. I'm going to graduate with three internships under my belt and essentially have my pick of the litter as far as employment goes.

Also, for someone who harps about the importance of "Communication", it's kind of ironic that you can't spell it correctly, don't you think?

I believe that Peyton earned his degree in Communication. That degree seems to have served him well. COMM is arguably one of the most practical and flexible degrees you can earn. That degree can open doors to business, law, entertainment, and even managing a team of engineers.

I'll also add that someone who earns a degree in Engineering has accomplished something respectable and worthwhile. Having said that, earning a college degree only begins to open doors and does not guarantee anything but an opportunity.

M.E. @ Cookville, huh? Well now, that sure 'splains a lot! Gotta find someone to look down on...he,he,he,he. When you learn to engineer your way out of a brown paper bag, you be sure an let us all know. And when a UT grad from Communications hires you or your firm to build components for his mass communications system, you be sure an let us know that, too.

Marques Pair has chosen a fine career path, possibly not the most remunerative, but it certainly does not deserve belittlement, as neither does your own. Good luck with it. As with most things, you'll get out of it what you put into it. So will he.

Should we bow to you now or wait til you graduate? Degree or not, you aren't getting too far being an arrogant ass...

Communication degrees have always been a joke. It's like sociology in those terms. Any idiot can get a communications degree.
