Oklahoma State's Mike Gundy interviewed by Currie

The averaged giving up 30 a game this year and let KState hang 45 on them in a loss (Vandy beat KSU)

Look. It remains to be seen. But the strategy is simple.

They average about 35th in recruiting, but they are a top 10 team routinely.

They just put all their good players on offense, and dare the other team to score more. It's a legit strategy when you have a recruiting disadvantage.

If he is getting top 10 classes here, he shouldn't have to stack up his offense.

I know he already got a raise, but I have a hard time believing he turned down Florida, an Athletic dept a lot more competent then ours and not under the thumb of one family, when he’s constantly had those issues in Stillwater. You’re more likely to win a national championship here, but unlike Florida, we have to go through Bama every year, hypothetically twice if we want to get there. It’s difficult to win one at Tennessee and Mike DuBose eras are a thing of the past.

The man likes stability. We gave Butch 5 years. Florida just fired a guy in year 3 after winning the division twice and screwed him out of his buyout.

What do y’all think the results for recruiting will be? Do we have a chance of getting back some and even get some better than before or not so good?

That's not really the reason why teams score so much out there. 1.) they don't really care, 2.) even if they cared, all they have to scrimmage against is a flag football offense

It will work better in the SEC East, its a no go against the SEC West, generally speaking.

from the OSU forum...

From a facilities and recent history standpoint, the program is lightyears ahead of where it was when Coach Gundy took over. (That's a testament to how great of a coach he is.) I don't think he's leaving, but if he does we need to go out and hire a coach that has proven he can win as a head coach.

Our problem has been offense. Too many 3 and outs in the Butch “Hurry up and Punt” and I think Gundy will fix that in his first year.

If he can sustain a few drives to let out defense rest some they will be alright (with Shoop or Steele or whoever else).

In the b-12 they don't need to have the best D. However any good coach would adapt to a different landscape and situation. Gundy would know in the SEC he would have to have a strong defense.

I sure hope the holier-than-UT media makes sure to push schiano for the job.

I think a lot of it is how much and how fast they score. It’s hard to keep your defense off the field and rested unless you’re like Alabama or Clemson and can just keep throwing bodies out there.
