Oklahoma State's Mike Gundy interviewed by Currie

He will beat Mizzou every year, something the past coaches couldn't do consistently.

And that still won't be enough to make you happy, paying him that much. You'll expect championships.

At least division titles (and yes he was HC when Big 12 had divisions).

Big 12 doesn't have a conference championship. Not really fair to judge the man based on that because of the way they crown their "champion"

They also have 9 conference games a year.

Actually they brought it back this year. Including this year, they have had a conference championship game 7 out of the 13 years that he has been at OSU. OKST won the conference title in 2011, the first year without a conference championship game.

I sense a real change in the wind today. Currie seems to be acting rationally for the first time and with a sense of seriousness. I wonder if the non Haslam booster camp has finally flexed its muscle and given him an ultimatum. Something like "Bring home one of the names on this list (hands him 4 or 5 names, including Gundy) by Friday morning or you are out".

The long watched for shift in the booster "civil war" may have happened over the last 24 hours. Everything "feels" different now.
agree. and i know Griff has the article out with the haslam family blessing..but what are they going to do? watch that train leave town while standing at the station?

i think sexton and haslam are probably on the outside looking in, and and those other top level, and mid level boosters all got on the same page, and gave currie what he needs.

now, it's not a done deal so not going to get too excited. but if this thing does go thru, i think it represents a major shift in the power structure, and if for nothing else, i'd say Sunday would be worth it.

Cant get much worse than where we are now...

Plus our offense would be tops. Just go out and hire a big time DC and we will be set

yet he'll still be the best coach we've had in a decade

If all we aspire to is to make it back up to winning 6-9 ball games and finishing 3rd in the SEC East every year at best, then Gundy is our man. That is exactly where we will top out if we hire this guy. This guy doesn't know what a freakin' defense is and he will NEVER be more than mediocre as an SEC coach. If we don't go out and swallow our pride and hire Kiffin at this point (with contract stipulations and protections of course), then it will be years and years before we ever even sniff the SEC Championship game again.

i'm very wary of paying attention to all the tweets and click bait out there right now.

i'll just say, if we can get this done, it'd be a HUGE turnaround from 48 hours ago, and we should say "thanks Mike, can't wait til the spring game" and move on......

Again, I have trouble believing some of the posters on here are real people. You actually believe Lane Kiffin to be a more proven head coach than Mike Gundy?

#Tennessee is focusing in on #okstate's Mike Gundy. Would expect #Vols might have to pay around $6 million or more to get him to leave his set-up in Stillwater & his alma mater. If not, keep an eye on Dave Doeren & Jeff Brohm: on.si.com/2Bxx1f0
