Oklahoma Board chatter ahead of Tennessee game

Yeah, but that cuts both ways. Say you lose two that you're favored in, then win two that you're not favored in.

I don't remotely believe the season will play out so that favorites always win...but I believe that if you're favored in 9 out of 12 games, it would be silly to conclude that you'll end up 12-0 ... or 7-5.

Like I said, not seeing the bookies' logic here.

The betting line is a reflection of the gambler's perspective of the matchup. It moves with the money and is started at that point to get even money on each side. The loser pays a percentage on top of their bet. That is the money bookies are playing for.

Me too. Look at the responses I've gotten on here tho. People flipping out saying there's no room for any smack talk and I'm a douschbag for saying that. And I've been to so many games at NEYLAND and I'm not sure I've seen any of these classy people they speak of

A lot has to do with your delivery. My sister can tell you to go to hell in a way that makes you look forward to the trip (that's one definition of diplomacy, btw). She's just naturally gifted that way, can talk smack with anybody without ruffling feathers.

My brother, on the other hand, rubs everyone the wrong way, even when he's trying hard to be diplomatic. Frustrates him to no end to watch my sister's smooth delivery. And in his mind, he THINKS he's as good as her. Nowhere close.

Maybe you're somewhere toward the "brother" end of the spectrum, Cameron, and that's why you're getting the surprisingly negative responses.

Something to think about, anyway.

Hey JP, how long you been in Lebanon? That is where my Dad and half sister grew up.

Ah cool! We've only been here about seven years. Retired from the Army in 2008, moved here then. Original home is Tullahoma, that's where I grew up. My wife went to HS in Shelbyville, land of the Beady-Eyed People. :)

Haha thanks for your interesting theory. I see what you mean. People on here just tend to be very negative and will shoot you down for the most minor things

These people weren't spit on or heckled. The team did this to them, not the fans.

Look at their faces.

You can have class without having to go kill trees if you lose. Yes, we don't need to be TUSCAFRIGGINLOOSA.

is it just me ? or is the girl in the top GIF checking out the uuuh talent ? :)

Well, the theory in Tullahoma was that all those folks up in the hollows around Shelbyville had intermarried for so many generations that their eyes grew smaller and closer together. So when you drove through Shelbyville on the way to Franklin or such, and noticed that most folks had beady little eyes, it wasn't as shocking knowing why.

That's all. :)

p.s. Not serious, just Tullahomans having fun with a neighboring town. We called Central High School in Manchester "Hamburger U" because most people who graduated from there (which was not a high % of the student population, btw) went on to very successful careers in the lunch delivery business at McDonalds drive-through windows. :) I'm sure there are plenty of jokes from our neighbors about Tullahoma, too, hehe.

Back on point, we have our share of morons on here who are overlooking OU. We have a good chance of winning, but nobody should be circling that game as a sure thing. It is a game either team could win.

Would have to agree. Also, I'm on the (free) Sooner boards all the time; it's safe to say the overwhelming majority of posters--
1. --view the game as tight win or tight loss. No slam-dunk.
2. --respect the rich Vol tradition, fan base and stadium
3. --correctly (in my view) see the 2015 Vol team as one that continues to mature, gain momentum and gel under Butch's philosophy.

OU has also not been 'standing still'. This makes the clash at Neyland really hard to predict, as both teams would likely have made improvements/adjustments in the right direction. Good board, by the way~!

Hey JP I'm also from Shelvulle. We can't help it our cousins look so good. Besides, we right up the road from Alabama and we all know what goes on down there. :)11009160_1008499892493957_3656457885214382473_n.jpg

Thanks very much. I enjoy reading the posts about team progress, as well as the good intel on your SEC opponents. Your defense is looking pretty stout; can't remember the linebackers name, but he pretty much prevented OU's otherwise dominant backs from creating havoc. Like Jalen Hurd a lot; a more experienced line should allow his talent to make other teams worry (not that they already don't). If the Vols can execute good offensive gameplans consistently, I would not be surprised at all to see them at (or very close to) the top of the East. That Georgia game is one I won't be missing.

That was AJ Johnson who won't be playing because he (1) is out of eligibility and (2) will be on trial for an accused rape of another student which led to his dismissal from the team late last season. Butch doesn't play around.

You will get see a lot of Barnett and Magitt creating havoc though...
