It is almost full with a 3.27 "star avg". Let's be optimistic and say that they fill the last 4 spots with 4* players. That makes the avg 3.38. Last year that would have landed UT between 12th and 20th nationally and around 7th or 8th in the SEC.
In another conference, that's dominant. In the SEC... it is average.
Do the math. The lowest star avg to make Rivals' top 10 in the last three years while signing less than 30 players was 3.56. To go from 3.27 to 3.56 assuming a 26 player class UT has to finish its class with four 4* players then have 6 or 7 players get a bump.
It is possible but very unlikely.
Again, this isn't "negative"... this is just math.
I know he tried. I know he didn't have all good players. I appreciate his effort. I should not knock the guy. I agree.
Funny though how some defend a multi-millionaire coach and manage to harass, poke fun, ridicule players half his age their entire career at UT and think that's okay.
Edit: If you really want to get into qualifications to comment on football then I'm game. I had posted mine to include my "resume" concerning leadership but a wise counselor suggested it was a bad idea even to answer your attempt to poison the well and evade the issues. You are one of the worst around here... all you do is talk shat, when it is so painfully obvious you know absolutely nothing about what it takes to coach or play football.
All it proves is that you either can't do or have not applied simple math in the context of the history of the rankings. UT may finish its class with four 4*. It is unlikely that Rivals gives bumps to the other 6 or 7 players it will take for UT to break the top 10 or the top 4 in the SEC.And this post of yours just proves my point.. Great the 2nd and average the third? When we are actually ahead in recruiting compared to where we were last year at this point.
Translation. It makes you angry, you can't answer it, so you handwave and pretend it isn't worth your effort to try. That tactic is worn... and cowardly. And then we get to the second part of the post, its wrong in so many ways that its not even worth pointing any of it out. Because it is like trying to explain what a color is to someone who was born blind.
I haven't "trolled" anyone in the 9 years I've been here. I give honest opinions based in the facts I know... right or wrong... I don't just throw stuff out to enjoy hysterics.I would ask you to stop trying to troll people around here with posts like this, but then that would be like trying to convince a crack head not to smoke it when they are in a warehouse filled to the top with the best crack in the world.
The consensus I have read or heard is only that he's a terrible coach and destroyed many relationships. He's also a bit of a weird bird.
You don't know how our class is going to round out either. This is taking star gazing to an extreme. Rivals has Dormady as a 2* and yet he had an offer from Alabama. Richmond and Tuttle are 5* and not just realistic but it looks likely to in Tenn's class.
Aside for having played and coached on teams at lower levels that won championships, having commanded a decorated military unit, receiving early promotion in the military for merit, and running a very successful business in a HIGHLY competitive industry... you are probably right. (I didn't offer... you asked.)

I'm sorry math and history offend you.

Who's spitting on him? How about you relax and sit the **** down. This is a message board for Christ's sake. It's not like people are burning crosses in the yard.And... it still isn't necessary after he's been publicly humiliated, fired, and probably seen the effective end to anything great in his career... to spit on him.
If he had done it on purpose and we had proof then sure, take your shot. But he's just a guy who was completely drowned by his situation. There's no need to say or assume anything more than he was not up to the job and failed.
The guy I responded to asked for it. I didn't bring it up. He said "You are one of the worst around here... all you do is talk shat, when it is so painfully obvious you know absolutely nothing about what it takes to coach or play football."Thank you for your service to our country, and I honestly mean that. However, blowing your own horn over your career accomplishments on a message board usually doesn't end well. Good luck.
Almost as funny as people who lack the life experience to sympathize with someone who fails like that.
Yeah... and it is tempting to wish that someone like you at some point will experience that kind of failure and public humiliation. I'm sure you'll handle it so much better and will love it when people kick you while you're down. That's such a classy thing to do, you know?
Dooley failed. The non-sense being spewed here says a lot more about the people posting it than it does Dooley.
As far as I know... he hasn't taken public shots at UT, the AD, the staff, the players, or even the fans. Has he? Seems he's showing a good bit more class than many of you.
How much solace would you feel if you were publicly humiliated and fired and got a 3 year severance at your current salary? Or do you really and truly believe that money in and of itself buys happiness and contentment?Dooley is laughing all the way to the bank.. As most of us would. Set for life and does not have to work unless he wants to.. Not a bad spot in you mid 40's
