What we have are 3 losses by a total of 12 points in games we had 2 TD leads including one in OT and one on the road. Tenn should have beaten Oklahoma and Florida. What we do not have is a need for Gator fans to post to our forum and start telling us what to do.
For the people wanting to fire the CBJ, do you really want to start this process all over? Haven't you people learned from the last 10 years that jumping ship over and over only keeps our team in the dumps.
Some people never learn.
I was told the same thing on Gator boards about Muschamp.
The "who are you going to get" argument is irrelevant.
You have failure. You can either hire success or hire another failure. But, you are in a no lose situation.
The odds are high that you can only get better or stay the same.
If you wait until the perfect day where there is a "home run hire", that particular guy may not even take the Tennessee job.
When a guy has proven he need to go, he needs to go
So here is the easy answer...
1) bad interference call not made, we beat OK.
2) we make one stop on FL final drive OR refs don't screw up the clock at the end of the game, we beat FL.
3) we go into the AR game 4-0, it's a different story.
We haven't been this close in years. OK slipped by, they know it. FL slipped by, you know it. We are close.
Who are you going to replace him with? Have we not been down this road before? This program once could have gotten most any coach out there but those days are gone. All the good ones are taken or wouldn't want the pressure of this. It is pressure! Yes the talent is better but after dropping Butch you will lose some of it and lose much of our next year's crop. It's easy to always scream fire. But, who do you get?

(1) Chip Kelly (if he loses his NFL gig)
Not going to happen yet, maybe next year.
(2) Art Briles (Tennessee is historically a better program than Baylor and if we offer him the big bucks he would be likely to come)
He's turned Baylor into a powerhouse all by himself and is a Texas guy. They built him a new stadium and athletic training center.
(3) John Gruden
We saw how this ended last time!
(4) Gary Patterson
See Art Briles plus we jilted him before we hired Kiffin!
(5) David Cutcliffe
Maybe, but I doubt it considering we offered it to him numerous times before.
(6) Mark Dantonio-- Not going to happen. Michigan State is now a powerhouse because of him and they will give him major raise soon.
Any of these proven winners are possible options if our administration is willing to pay the money necessary to bring in a great coach rather than another mid major budget hire.
Several options are available if we will follow the lead of Alabama, Ohio State, and Michigan with their most recent hires by paying the big bucks and investing in winning rather than trying to find a budget hire. Here are some possible options.

We tried to get the home run hire with Kiffin and that ended well. We tried the mid major HC so that rules out Fuente. Maybe we can try a good OC/DC who was in a power 5 conference.
I'd take a run at David Shaw
Chad Morris
Kirby Smart
Justin Wilcox
Kendall Briles
One of the 2 OC at TCU

This list is delusional. None of those coaches will end up at UT, it is not happening. You, along anyone else here that thinks they could, need to get this through your head.
If you think Briles would leave Baylor to come here, or that D'Antonio would leave Mich St to come here, then you are absolutely out of your mind.

Hate to break it to you but Jim McElwain started this year with more talent on his roster than Butch...
McElwain has more talent in 2015 than Jones has in 2015?
Prove it.
Otherwise, it doesn't matter what Jones had in 2013 because McElwain beat Jones with 2015 squads.
McElwain is just a quality coach and he's assembled a good staff. UF's roster was in shambles and had 3-4 healthy scholarship OL in the Spring. 18 total OL and only 4 of them are JR/SR. 5 of them are walk-ons, 2 of them are 4/5* and the rest are middling 3* undergrads. Looks like a prime rib of excuses for Lyle.
Still beat UT. Still beat Ole Miss. No excuses, just results.
That's just something that UT fans can't understand after years of Fulmer making weak excuses followed by Dooley making weak excuses followed by Jones making weak excuses.
You Grudenits were the laughing stock before. You want to do it again? First time shame on them, second time shame on you.
It's easy to point at a coach and then an AD. It's easy to scream clean house. But, we can recruit. That's a huge first step! Doubt you will find another better out there right now. You can surround a weak link with great assistants if out there. Doing that is easier on the program than taking the head off of it. If you clean house you are rock bottom once again. Rolling the dice and hoping for the best, years of waiting again for sure and then probably a similar result. We give players time to adjust and get better. This coach is just now getting talent enough to compete so don't we need to give him more time and not crush the program once again? Maybe the AD is not as much of a problem when hiring maybe it's UT as a whole including some of the fan base. I really don't know the true answer but starting a new foundation over and over seems to not the the correct one.
