I'm not usually one to gripe about officiating. With that said, the end of the UK - Miss St game seems to confirm that the state of officiating these days is anything but impartial. What was an obvious lane violation by Thomas while Meeks was getting the ball for the second shot wasn't going to be called. At least not until Coach Stansbury threw (rightfully so) a fit.

Last night, Davis was wholly ineffective in the first half. In the second half he started getting calls for (and never against) him and ended up being the high scorer for LSU.

My question is this....take the UT-LSU game out of the equation (for a clear head)....is the officiating just bad, or, is there a reason behind the poor calls/non-calls?

For nearly a decade, ESPN has waited for Vol fans to get over the infamous "trailer trash" crack.

This year they finally got a clue and decided to be proactive. Money changed hands, and we suddenly got Tim Brando and the refs in the 2nd half of the TN-LSU game.

Yes, it's just a token effort, but at least ESPN is actually spending money to screw us and make it look like somebody else is doing it, rather than just screwing us and not giving a damn

Just flat out bad officiating i believe the comentator made a remark about our game last night at the beginin of georgia florida game and it was favoring us and not the officials

Officiating as a whole across the country has been horrible!!
For example, did anyone see the call against Clemson that gave FSU a 1 point win in the ACC tourney??? If ESPN can continually replay a bad call for 2 days straight with every analyst saying that it was "horse-s**t", then there should be some immediate punishment for the official. These refs have some serious egos and it seems like they feel the need to leave their mark in every game. Swift diciplinary action is the only way to eliminate some of their "God" complexes.

There are two or three officials in the SEC that will not give Tennessee a call unless it is obvious. Ted Valentine is one of them. This has been going on for years. A former Kentucky player is an advisor to the SEC officials and the old time UK players hate UT. The officials are not independent enough.

I am glad I am not the only one that think the SEC refs suck this year. At first I thought it was because the bad calls were going against UT, but then I watched some other SEC games and decided that wasn't the case. They were just bad all the way around. What does it actually take to become an offical? this is a serious question, not being a s.a.
