This reads like something from Dr. Seuss:
The University of Tennessee issued a statement Wednesday night to shed light on the search for a new athletic director. The gist: A hire is not imminent.
This is the text of the statement:
"Dr. Davenport arrives on Feb. 15 to begin serving as UT Knoxvilles chancellor. She has said that filling the AD position is one of her top priorities.
The athletic director serves as a member of the chancellors cabinet. Dr. Davenport has emphasized the importance of finding the best person for this key role.
The university is in the midst of a procurement process to hire a search firm to assist with the search.
Once that process concludes, UT will release information about the firm that is selected.
At that time, the campus will also announce the members of the search committee and provide a tentative schedule for the search process.
We hope to announce these details soon.
From there the search committee and the firm will begin working together to begin the national search.
Dave Hart continues to serve as the Athletic Director for the UT Knoxville campus. His retirement date is June 30, 2017.''

No. It just gets old watching people concoct scenarios in their minds and freak out.
You do realize football starts the first weekend of September right?

I agree GA. The statement says no search firm has been decided on and won't be untill the new Chancellor is here. At that time when one is decided on the firm and the search committee will combine and "then" start to look at candidates.
Until then nothing is going to happen folks so no need in making thread after thread or whining about it.

That would be a good point if it were true but it isn't. Doug Dickey has been sick for a while. It isn't as if he just informed them a few days ago he was sick and then they negotiate a new AD within four days. I know you want that to be true just to prove a point.
So if its up to Beverly then it will be Mike Bohn. She is familiar with him and and there is trust there. Get ready to be disappointed
Why not just do the job they are well paid to perform and forego the search firm? If you need a search firm to do your job for you maybe you shouldn't be in charge of the hiring process. Results from these firms are more miss than hit anyway. Be better off hiring a private investigator to vet these people.
If Dave Hart's decision to stick around until June 30 has prolonged all of this, can they just fire his ass and hire Blackburn already!? If reports are true, Jones' hands have been tied with regard to hiring quality assistants due to this BS.
It makes sense for UT to hire a search firm and take their time to find the best fit for the athletic department whether it is Blackburn, Fulmer or somebody else and for Davenport to have her thoughts on this hire because this and future hires will stamp her legacy at UT.
Why'd you have to go and post this? Trying to take the fun out of it?
Hart's retirement announcement was months upon months ago. See Florida and Alabama how to be proactive and competent,
I must have missed the part where they also hired a new Chancellor. Y'know, the main roadblock in this process.
