Official Scrimmage overreaction thread

1. If Bray completes too many passes, our defense is doomed... until we get Loften, Martin, Randolph & Orta on campus. They will all naturally start and meet everyone across the middle. Bray also is better than everyone not named Andrew Luck... and especially Aaron Murray.

2. If Bray does not complete enough passes, we have the best secondary in the conference... probably of all time actually. Simms will declare "this is why I should be the starter." as he completes 1 more pass than Bray for 25 less yards. Fans will argue that the Worley era has begun.

3. Some player who we have probably never heard of will have more receiving yards than Justin Hunter... and will still probably never play in a game at UT.

4. Coach Fulmer and Lane Kiffin will be blamed for something that happens.

5. We will either win the East this year, or be last... there is no in-between.

Nice post. This thread has been totally worth my 3 minutes. I will revisit after the game. Maybe I'll have thought have something clever then, but I wouldn't count on it.

Youth against youth in a scrimage can't match the level of SEC play. It will be 2013 before the Vols will be seasoned enough to make a championship run.

If Poole gets tackled after 25+ yard run it's cause he has no wheels. If he gets 9 yards on 2nd down he's in BEAST mode. Moaning about Lane not being 100% for either of the above.

If we gain more than 150 yards on the ground. . .

1. Our O Line is going to be the best in the SEC ! They have matured and are ready to DOMINATE !

Followed by:

2. Our D Line and Linebackers are HORRIBLE !
3. What are we going to do against real SEC competition?
4. Why can't CDD recruit quality players?
5. What happenned to Montori?
6. Malik isn't producing, he must be a mole from Kiffin.
7. This new S&C coach must be worthless.

I would not be surprised if all 7 of these actually happen:

When Da'rick drops a pass: "I knew he'd be a bust!"

When Bray throws a TD pass: "Best UT qb since Manning?" "Better than Manning?" "Heisman?"

When the offense and running game look sluggish: "Chaney's never going to be a good enough playcaller to get us back to the top!"

When Malik gets his first tackle: "Outland trophy winner right there!" "First round pick next April!"

When a receiver anywhere near Gordon catches a pass: "He's not athletic enough to play at this level. Coleman will pass him by June."

When the first guy goes down with even a twisted ankle: "We're so f***ing cursed!!! Why does this always happen to us?!?! What did we do to anger the Gods!?!?!"

When Dooley has a witty comment in the interviews after the scrimmage: "Man, I'm so glad he's our coach!"

Thats Nash Nance?

At this stage the Defense should be ahead of the offense. I expect the defense to shine.

Will there be video of scrimmage or anywhere we can watch it online?

At least one prospect and three Vol celebs will get locked out because they forgot to call ahead and let CDD know they were coming.

Normally I would agree, but I think we upgraded the offensive line so much that our running backs are going to look light years better, plus Bray will have more time to throw and know more plays and know it better. GBO

This thread is right on. I personally don't want to hear that everything is perfect. It shouldn't be. Should they be ahead of where they were last year? Of course. Comparing Bray to Manning or calling players and or coaches bust right now is just comical.

The punter's kicks are to short and the kicker missed a couple of field goals because they are using a different football than everyone else

That is typically how it should be but the defense is without several key players right now. Without Janzen, Ben Martin, Herman Lathers, Byron Moore, Izzy Lanier or Mo couch I would think that the offense should be able to move the ball pretty well.

Wilcox said that some of the defense's stuff that they had put in gave the offense a lot of trouble and they were going to scale back the defense somewhat for the scrimmage and just try to play "fast". One (or more) of the other coaches said that whatever the defense was doing had given Bray and the offense fits the last couple of sessions. Just for information purposes. That's what I read/heard on ut sports.
