Official Scrimmage overreaction thread

I was a bit more alarmed by how well the defense seemed to do against the O-Line and the number of INT's thrown. I worry b/c it sounds like the D was able to get pressure and according to many on this site our D-Line and LB's should be our weakest position this year. This leads me to be concerned about how the OL will do against SEC quality opponents. Although it does sound like they were able to create space, considering Neal's overall stats for the game. Does anyone have the stats for any of last year's spring scrimmages by chance?

I'm curious how the O-Line performed this year compared to last year at this time.

It's really hard to take much from stats in a spring scrimmage with many of your expected starters sidelined or not present to begin with, unless you are the coach. Whatever the case, it sure sounds like Neal's development is coming along nicely. Can't wait to see if that translates into success on the field for him. I still believe TP has the potential to be a great back this year, I like the idea of running more short pass plays and screens with him, as long as he holds on to the ball.

Go Vols!

I would love for Poole to have a huge season this year and get himself drafted early. Not only would this be great for our Vols' season prospects and wouldn't hurt CDD's RB recruiting down the road (& Poole of course), but it would be a big "F You" to the Lame Kitten for treating TP like a schmuck in favor of his 5 star let down, BB.

Our D line is better then a lot of people I think are giving them credit for. Malik, Walls, Jacques, and Miller are a pretty solid front 4. I am being bold and optimistic here but I think our LBs will be good this year. Our front 7 has potential to he very good.

1,000 yard rusher his first starting season with a new offensive line.....in other words I'm not worried at all

Tauren Poole, if you take out his long run of 15 yds had 8 carries for 6 yards.

Could be more of an issue for the 2nd string O line or the play calling than Poole. Either way if I take away 2 sperm I have no kids. Thing is I do have 2 kids so I guess those swimmers counted.

Yeah. He looked great against UK when his inconsistency forced us to abandon the running game completely. But hey, he ran for 1,000 yards.

You're right.ky was focused on stopping the run and we just couldnt get it going. With another year under our o-lines belt hopefully that will change this year. This year we have got to be able to get those 3-4 yrd gains even when the whole defense is on the line.
