recruiting in basektball isnt nearly as important as you guys seem to think. only have to put 5 on the floor. just get 1 top 150 player a year and you have more than enough to win it all. i know it makes for entertainment following teenager tweets and biting your nails but nearly every year theres a couple teams in elite 8 without a 4+ star on their roster

Huh?

Also he will add more stability than any other coach could offer. If Marshall wins 3 sec championships and goes to the final 4 2x then Duke comes calling... He gone!!!

If Byrd comes to UT he retires there, and leaves the program in a good state.

I fail to see how that's a problem???
3 champs and two final fours would destabilize the program. Got it!

i now that upsets you guys who live and die hanging on every word from a 16 year old kid about what he ate for breakfast and what color shoes he has on his in twitter pic.

no coach at TN has ever had a problem recruiting enough talent to win the SEC. basketball recruiting is overrated.

Maybe SMU shouldn't have hired Larry Brown because he is too old?????

Totally different situation. SMU needed a spark, excitment, energy to get its program going. We need to build a foundation and some stability. Not the same.

He's better than Martin period. You can't spell Martin without NIT. We could also get him for a good price, which may be attractive.

If that's your only criteria, that he's better than Martin, then we can do better and younger.

Also funny considering Belmont was a NIT team last season.

No lol. Any candidate I've seen is better than Martin. I'm looking at this more from a budget standpoint. And also he is a TN guy.

Don't recall that, you couldn't read 2 posts without seeing A&M or UGA posted. Mr. Byrd has lost to much worse teams than that.
...Tennessee loses to teams from the Atlantic Sun and Ohio Valley. Because any team can beat any other team on a given night. There IS NOT much of a drop off to mid major in college basketball in case you don't know. Guarantee you Martin had twice as many bad losses the last 3 years than Rick Byrd.
