Official Nashville Predators Thread

Why do we need a third line center? Jarnkrok has been solid all year.

As long as Ellis comes back healthy we have no need for another RHD either.

so any suggestions on who poile will try to bring in?

I think if DP really wants to go for it this year & the next few seasons with our core locked up, he may try to make a move for Kessel. That would make this team a serious contender for at least the next few years. As long as it doesn't come at the expense of Jones. Still need to be stronger down the middle though.

Maybe Toronto would bite on a Fiala + Smith + '15 1st package. I doubt they would though.

No way. Its looking to be a bottom 8 pick at worst. The fact that Nashville can take on Phil with no salary ramifications makes them unique among potential suitors though. Of course, Shanahan isn't going to let a guy with a 50 goal stick go for anything reasonable

Yeah I don't see it happening either. I know DP loves him some Kessel & I'm sure you've seen the rumors on HF of Nonis & Poile having serious talks recently. (that place is becoming a joke btw)

The problem with HF is it's like the FF here. 50% of people are dumber than the average person, so when a board gets to a certain size it's overflowed with nonsense.

Jones shouldn't be on the table. Fiala is an elite prospect for us. Smith is finally becoming a reliable forward.

I would like Kessel, but not at the price Toronto is most likely asking for him.

BTW, anyone have a good stream for tonight's game?

I'm definitely high on Fiala. I think he's going to be a stud. But the chances he becomes a top 10 winger in the NHL? Not very good. Which is exactly what Kessel is.

If Nonis would accept that package, I'd do it in a heartbeat & any pred fan would be dumb not to.

We've got to get Ekholm and Ellis back. Volchenkov almost got Pekka hurt again, and watching Bartley and Bitetto getting hemmed in our D zone for 2:30 minutes was painful.
Thankfully Pekka went beast mode tonight.

First team to 80 points. Keep it up!

I would have a look at Winnik as a bottom 6 or 13th forward, has experience in playoffs and plays a sound all around game. The problem, of course, is guys like that always cost a few more coins than they're actually worth this time of year.

Right, faith in the scouting department could also mean I'm ok with no first because we'll find something in a deep draft.

Having a solid roster also allows you to draft euros and let them ripen against adults over there with no real urgency to get them to NA.

It's tough to mess with a team with his type of success. I think "going for it" trades apply to 2-5 seeds.

Even if we make a big trade it almost has to me a center, right?

Not necessarily but I'd like one for the long term as our top centers are old. Deadline trades, however, tend to revolve around rental players so if we're going that route I'd prefer a top winger so as to push a guy like Smith to the bottom six, giving us a bit of the production we desperately need throughout the lineup.

If I were Poile I'd stand pat, focus on re-singing Ribs and Fish to 1-2 year deals and locking up Wilson and Smith (more money going to Wilson than Smith), draft centers in the first two rounds of the next two drafts, and hope that Fiala can add scoring depth to the bottom six next year and that we'll have some centers ready by the time Ribs and Fish kick the bucket.

I'm confident in Fisher's readiness to accept a reasonable deal given his familial situation, but I'm hoping against hope Ribeiro will feel the same way.

I'm under no delusion that it's even a possibility, but I'd enjoy a Preds Stanley Cup more than a Vols NC or anything else in the athletic realm.
