Official Madden 11 Thread

For those of you who got the early copies of madden (bearcat), is this game worth buying or waiting probably two weeks to find an available copy to rent at blockbuster?

Keep in mind that I usually enjoy the franchises on the madden series. One of my favorite things to do is get the draft classes from NCAA and import them to madden.

Hopefully the attributes won't be completely random like they were last year. I could have a 99 rated ovr QB, then when I imported him, he was 5th round talent and would never get over 70 ovr. It was frustrating.

At first I didnt like it, but after playing for a couple of weeks it has started to grow on me. If you like 10, then you will like 11. The jump from 10 to 11 isnt that huge, especially compared to aa 10 to aa 11.
I have yet to import my AA players over to Madden for the draft. I will try it out tonight maybe. I have been reading that there are problems with it much like last year. UrinalMint is correct in that they absolutely didnt touch a thing in franchise.

My draft import seemed pretty random, though maybe not quite as bad as last year. Its disappointing because franchise mode and importing my players is my favorite thing about Madden and it seems like the easiest aspect of the game to fix or upgrade.

The import does seem a little less random than last year. Except for players at qb. It is still very unlikely to have a decent qb come from the draft.

I've been sitting here for ten minutes loading and re-loading the class with Bray in it. He was almost maxed out his senior year. And now, I can't get him to have over 60ish% potential.:banghead2:

Seeing all the commercials for it have me wanting to buy it. Reading all this on here makes me not want to. Still on the fence.

When in doubt, rent. Honestly, someone could love it and think it is the greatest game of all time and another could just flat out hate it. I am somewhere in the middle now.

Random but did anyone notice the players Robert You, and Daniel Frisch? Both are FA in the game but neither exist in real life. I wonder if the programmers thew themselves in the game or something.

One of the most frustrating things about franchise is that they didnt even fix many of the bugs from last season such as randomly not being able to sign a certain player you drafted, and the CPU taking over roster decisions on their own. The CPU roster decisions are on year three of being in this game unfixed.

Coop team play just might be the most fun I have had playing madden. They did a real good job with this mode this year.

Probably the only reason I considered getting Madden. Just don't know anyone who actually bought the game that I would be able to play that with.

i'll pass this year and just keep my copy of 10. i've heard some people say good things and some say bad. but based on what i've read about it there's just not enough there to merit a purchase from me.

i rented this yesterday and played one game and honestly could care less if i play another game of it. the picture and presentation is pretty nice but if i choose between madden and ncaa, i'll play ncaa every time. i saw nothing special about it to make me want to keep playing for any length of time.

You should give the teamplay a whirl. If I can get Mason to get it, we could run with a team of three and see how bad we could play together :)

I've had Madden about 2 weeks now. It didn't make a big leap like NCAA did, but its fun nonetheless. The gameplay transition between the two is really smooth, which should make importing your draft class very satisfying.

I kinda felt that was a bit expected though since Madden made its big leap last year

I take back what I said about draft classes. Ryan Mallet and Jake Locker both went undrafted in my last draft import. I dont really know what EA did this year on Madden. Gameplay is not much different from last year, they made pre-snap adjustments harder, and added in a coordinator voice. Thats about all I see so far. They didnt even take the time to fix the problems from last year.

I disagree with the gameplay part, there is a big difference

Do your players seem to have completely random equipment when you import them. It seems any time a players had a revo or revo speed helmet in college in completely messes up the helmet in madden. It will give them a revo helmet and a normal facemask or vice versa.

Or if anyone had any sort of sleeves in ncaa they have long sleeves in madden.

I didnt pay attention to gear, just the ratings. There are a few gameplay changes for the better but its definitely not a big jump at all.

I rented it and liked it but still don't know about going out and buying it. I probably will. Overall I liked it but its pretty much the same as last year.

were the salary cap issues fixed at all this year in online franchise? that was a huge reason why i never tried to get into a sim style league last year.

No, I dont think they touched it at all which is baffling to me. I disagree with some, I can tell a difference in gameplay and the implementation of locomotion. You actually shift when you cut this year instead of just turning on a dime.
