Official Madden 11 Thread

In what way? Is it not a polished version of NcAA? I'm deciding not to buy it because the complete lack of attention to offline and online franchise.

No attention at all to franchise and the locomotion feels very sluggish compared to NCAA. NCAA is miles better in all aspects imo

Few more things that I will say about the game. I kinduv liked gameflow at first, but after a few games, it seemed as though it was choosing the same four plays over and over. Also the pre snap adjustments are now done with the d pad and seems very clunky and takes way too much time to change up you line and linebackers. The player models look a but cartoonish with little skinny bodies and goofy huge helmets, very disappointed with player models. Also they changed the kicking meter and now you use the a button and the meter looks a bit like the putter meter on tiger. The fields look great and the sounds are pretty good as well, that just doesn't make up for all the negative things for me.

played the demo for about 5 or 6 minutes before deleting it. gameflow is stupid IMO. one of the main points for playing a football sim like madden is that you get get to call your own plays and develop a nice rythym on offense, not letting an "offense coordinator" do it for you. some people might like it, but to me, it's nothing more than a glorified "ask madden/ask corso" feature.

if EA would spend more time on stuff that people actually want rathar than putting their development team to work on silly things like this then they might actually get somewhere. unless i hear great things about the game when it comes out, then i'm probably not picking this up this year.

Played hit, And i have some crow to eat.. Because it is garbage... I will be saving $ 60 this year..

I don't understand how someone can go from top of the world (2010) to this crap (2011)..

I feel stupid for asking but, it already came out?

There are some early retail releases out there that have been on Ebay and CL for a week. The game doesnt actually release until August 10th or something. I got it last saturday but have been playing it offline.

Oh ok. Thanks. I was sitting here thinking I've been to Wal Mart and Gamestop 100 times in the last week and never saw it. Sounds like I'm not missing much.

Not really missing much, AA is so much better imo. But, if you are a huge NFL fan over AA then you might like it a bit. It is starting to grow a little on me, but only to the level or being playable, not much more.

I usually buy both but lean more towards NCAA. Probably do the same for this year. I always enjoy Madden though. Crappy or not. It's kind of like a bad train wreck lol

Played the demo, and I must be getting old because the game just seemed way more complicated than it should be.

For some reason I woke up at around 3 this morning and couldnt get back to sleep, so I decided to play a little more early this morning. The earlier games that I had played of the retail seemed pretty sluggish compared to AA, but I bumped up the game speed and it felt much better. Played about three games and even though I think this game is lacking in many areas compared to AA, it is starting to grow on me and gets a little better everytime I play it. The big thing that Madden seems to do a better job at than AA is the game fatigue. I was playing with Carolina against Buffalo and I could tell as the game went on, that I was starting to wear out the Bills front four. Pounding the ball seems to get a little easier as the game goes on and I was getting better running lanes and more space to get more yards. Like I said, if you are a huge NFL fan, you will probrably enjoy it, but for me it has taken a little time to enjoy it.

Game looks really good. I thought it required a little more deliberance when you were making moves.

I've always favored Madden to NCAA in the long-run though.

For those of you who got the early copies of madden (bearcat), is this game worth buying or waiting probably two weeks to find an available copy to rent at blockbuster?

Keep in mind that I usually enjoy the franchises on the madden series. One of my favorite things to do is get the draft classes from NCAA and import them to madden.

I've had Madden about 2 weeks now. It didn't make a big leap like NCAA did, but its fun nonetheless. The gameplay transition between the two is really smooth, which should make importing your draft class very satisfying.

Hopefully the attributes won't be completely random like they were last year. I could have a 99 rated ovr QB, then when I imported him, he was 5th round talent and would never get over 70 ovr. It was frustrating.

Looks like they did absolutely nothing with Franchise. Would it be that hard to make it as good as the last gen franchise mode? Just copy and paste the code or something for gods sake

Already found my first bug. In my first draft in franchise the game won't allow me to sign my second round pick.
