Official Lane Kiffin thread 1

I look at it like this, and I was as disappointed with the way he left here as anyone.

Bobby Petrino royally screwed over the Louisville Athletic Director and the school when he left for Atlanta.

July 13, 2006
Petrino signs a 10-year contract extension with Louisville, telling the world he isn't going anywhere:

"We did want to make a statement," Petrino said. " ... I also wanted to make sure that everyone understood - and I know I've said it - that this is where my family wants to be and where I want to be. But I want everyone to really believe it when it is said."

Asked later if he was emphatically telling other teams not to pursue him, Petrino said, "Yeah. That's why we did the buyout. That's why I wanted the buyout, so everybody understands that."

January 7, 2007
Petrino goes somewhere, as he is hired as the head of the Atlanta Falcons. He says he's taking what he "truly feel is the best job in the National Football League."

"I'm in shock right now," a Louisville player tells ESPN. "We're coming off a great Orange Bowl win and we were all thinking national championship. I didn't think this would happen. He said he enjoyed college football. He's a great coach, and we're going to miss him."

This is after he'd already been caught flirting with Auburn officials while he was the coach at Louisville and Tommy Tuberville was still employed at Auburn.

He of course would resign from the Falcons in the middle of the season, leaving just a letter...

I could go on...

After all of that, which also includes his firing from Arkansas...Tom Jurich hired him back...because he wanted to win.

At least you know what your getting, maybe you can manage better the second time around.

I was dead against it at first, but now we are where we are. We could do worse. We already have, twice.

All these coaching openings and the only ones talking about him is us.

What is it that the VN FF knows that every other AD in the country doesn't?

I bet If we don’t hire him, Kiffin lands another Power 5 conference job this year or next year (at the very latest) and kicks ass — and hopefully it’s not ours.

He may get hired, but he has an established history that suggests otherwise.

He’s trolling Tennessee on Twitter as we speak. Too immature to be a head coach. Has failed everywhere as the top guy. Great OC but you can’t trust him as a Head Coach. Bring in a guy like Cutcliffe with Tee Martin as OC/ coach in waiting.

I disagree. He's said he's learned a lot and grown up. He's surrounded himself with great influences (saban) etc and has learned even more about the game.

It would be the ultimate prodigal son story if he came to UT and won a national title.

So a day after attacking Schiano’s integrity, we gonna trot out Kiffin?

Kiffin didn't fail to report child rape. Dude is fine. People get in a tizzy because he has a bit of a mouth, but so did Spurrier and he said stuff as bad as Kiffin ever did.

Hell no .... As a poster said above, we will throw a parade for him. Kiffin to the hill. We deserve each other. Would be fun to watch him troll saban daily.

I agree Kiffen will somehow unite the fanbase and I do mean this! kids wanna play for him and he will love the Smokies :)

I would give you 50 likes on this if i could. We are at a cross roads . WE can let bygones be bygones and start new or we can wallow in it. We will regret it because Kiffin will win a NC somewhere in his career. He may win it on recruiting and his staff alone but he will win one. Sure would be nice if it was here .

Kiffin is a Spurrier clone. I’m actually super-glad Florida didn’t go after him and went for Mullen.

If Currie can get him to sign a contract that makes it impossible for him to leave but easy to get fired,
I am all for bringing him back.

If Kiffin really wants to come back he will happily accept.

Except without all of the wins and championships. Florida has competent leadership, they wouldn't touch him as evidence by them... Not touching him.

200.webp

Best case scenario we win a National championship and make a few 30 for 30s in the process . Worst case scenario he brings us probation and we get a few 30 for 30s

Either way we gonna be on a 30 for 30
