Official Lane Kiffin thread 1

Never thought this fanbase would be clamoring for a guy that has averaged less than 8 wins per year as a head coach that thought so little of our program and the players he begged to come here that he bolted after 11 months for his “dream job” that he failed so miserably at that he wasn’t allowed to get on the team bus after 5 games into year 5.

Of course I never saw yesterday coming either

The USC job was the only job he would have left UT for. It was his dream job. The guy is a douche but also the best play caller in the country and a top recruiter. What he did with that 2009 roster was magic. Get over it. The guy can coach and he won't leave again because I truly believe he has learned from past mistakes and even if he hasn't, his buyout would be enormous.

I'm really surprised so many fans want Kiffin back after everything that went down. Not so much because he left for USC, but for calling early enrollees and telling them not to go to class.

We're going to be laughed at by the entire sports world for revolting against Schiano, but welcoming Kiffin back to the university he screwed once already.

That was almost 10 years ago. Do not hold grudges.

I'm not. I'm just a fan and would give anyone hired a chance to prove themselves. Even Kiffin although I still don't know if he could be trusted.

Maybe I'm completely wrong about him and while under Saban he learned some things and matured to the point of potentially being a good head coach.

If he comes in and wins then we won't.

But I honestly think it'll be Cutcliffe or Fulmer. Tennessee has to pay Jones' buyout and now we they have to pay Schiano some type of settlement for Schiano. Schiano's reputation was exposed and forever tarnished yesterday. He's not going to just say "ok, nevermind". Tennessee is going to need someone cheap and good. Kiffin makes $1 mil a year at FAU. So anything Tennessee offered him would be a raise, but I still think he's the type of guy to go to the highest bidder.

Bring back Kiffen, put Fulmer in charge of watching over him and then pay good money for the best assistants on defense money can buy.

This all day. With what’s done, forget hiring Petersen, Gruden even Tee. UT will be lucky to get an OVC guy now.
If Kiff will listen, hire his ass or were stuck with Dooley 2.0 or a guy who’s mentor is Butch.

I think Tennessee is the same as FAU to him. Merely a stepping stone. The second a more prestigious job came available, he'd be gone again.

He thinks nothing of UT. He showed that the first time. He thinks we need him, not the other way around

Exactly

At this point, we do.

I still hate the guy's guts, personally

I'm with you, F*** kiffin. Bringing him back would be the equivalent of dating an ex girlfriend that publicly cucked you.

Have some damn pride in yourselves.

Bring back Kiffin! I'm in!

Realistically, this is probably the best case scenario. I wouldn't have been upset if he would have been higher up on our list to start with. The guy can coach. Kiffin is what we need in Ktown.

Ya know, the man has said he should have never left TN in the first place. If he were to come back, you'd at least know what you're getting.

Is he brash? Yep
Can he be childish? No doubt
Would he do everything in his power to try and take down any big school on the field? Yeah he would

I honestly believe if he were re-hired, he'd be out to prove a point to Saban and any other coach in this league. The man would be on a mission, and at the very least the teams would be competitive.

Like someone said above, he took a no talent team and to them to a bowl, hell he had TWO walk ons playing Oline, and some how found a way to win 7 games. That's better than what we saw this year.

I wouldn't hate the hire

He wants the job and he would be motivated to win.

They’re already laughing , winning again will silence the critics..

Yeap, he has also been fired everywhere he has gone after leaving is two weeks before signing day. He almost got us on probation as well.

Honestly ... I’ve always thought he was the best choice. I wanted Gruden because of the name and potential staff, but Kiffin has an awesome football mind, can energize a fan base, and can handle the scrutiny.
