Could Gruden have asked to retain Butch the rest of the season so there is no chance of it looking like he backed doored the UT coaching job? Just throwing out silly ideas. This is the place for it.

Currie will not jeopardize losing Gruden just for the sake of keeping Butch for the rest of the season, but his desire is, and has been, to fire and hire within a very short time period.

Personally, I believe that Butch gives this team their best chance to win the next 3 games. It's not a good chance, but I don't think an interim has anywhere near the same chance. Currie believes this, too. He's ok with the fan base being upset with him for the time being. If/when he hires Gruden, he knows we'll all be back.

Congrats man, the only advice I can give, being a first time dad as well is to hold that little girl as much as you can, they really do grow up too fast.

So, Butch may not be fired, we may not "officially" know who the next coach will be, and we may not see that Gru...that next coach at the podium for three more weeks.
It's not Butch being the interim that matters...it's the feeling that if it's not announced publicly, there will be some way of it falling apart.

If SM didn't have so many penalties...and if SM would have played the other QB from the start, I believe they would have won that game...

Our first drive was awesome (almost as if we paid a true professional OC for a scripted 10 plays)...after that, was Butch ball. God aweful.

Big "ifs" I understand, but I don't think for one minute we were any better than previous sh1tsh0w weeks.
