Currie will not jeopardize losing Gruden just for the sake of keeping Butch for the rest of the season, but his desire is, and has been, to fire and hire within a very short time period.
Personally, I believe that Butch gives this team their best chance to win the next 3 games. It's not a good chance, but I don't think an interim has anywhere near the same chance. Currie believes this, too. He's ok with the fan base being upset with him for the time being. If/when he hires Gruden, he knows we'll all be back.
Could Gruden have asked to retain Butch the rest of the season so there is no chance of it looking like he backed doored the UT coaching job? Just throwing out silly ideas. This is the place for it.
