I don't find the information hard to swallow, I believe it to be true.... What I do find hard to swallow is that Ergen and Company will be able to pull it off.... I am taking a wait and see on that!

40% chance they do
Ergen is at least $10B richer than the Haslams. If he wants to pull it off enough, he can pull it off!

I think I'm just starting to understand the true scope of what is going on here. Ergen is a man ready to change the entire landscape of the university in every possible way. Incredible and necessary if we want our state to be the very best.

I think you are correct. If Ergen is leading the charge to hire Gruden with a large majority of boosters on his side, and if he has a deal on the table to funnel money and research opportunities to the Academic Administration, and if he has expressed the united view that he and his coalition of boosters will take their donations elsewhere if the Gruden deal is not allowed to progress, then I would think Haslam only has two options really (if he is the roadblock). Haslam could:

1.) Step out of the way and let the deal progress or...

2.) Pressure Currie into making a decision that would basically be career suicide for him as he would be alienating virtually every other person of importance at the University just to appease Haslam.

IF this is all true, I really think the key is if Ergen has the Academic Administration on his side. If he does, it's hard to see how he loses this and easy to see why Beaver has been so confident.

This is untrue. Haslam aided the quest for Gruden in 2012. His resources were used to court Gruden then, he obviously approved. The academic side wasn't willing to give Gruden the control he wanted. It wasn't the Haslam's.

Sorry, I don’t buy that at all. They have unbelievable influence on UT. If they want something to happen, it happens.

I was the 1 that said a big 10 coach.

I’m not an insider. I used to work for UT but now work for a different university (on my 2nd since UT).

Still have friends that work for the UTAD. All I know is that he had mentioned a couple in the AD love a big 10 coach.

Only thing I feel comfortable saying is that it won’t be Fuente.

Not an insider.

Still behind about 50 pages, but prior to Gruden, I always thought Mark Dantonio might be in play. No inside info, just a "gut" feeling. But I am still full GRUDE-ON!

Ok, my head is hurting.

So if Gruden is roadblocked, then UT doesn't get the VC dollars, right? Bev wants money, so she will pressure Currie. Is that accurate?

Just meant that if it's "too good to be true"... it usually is.

This is what I’m confused about....if some say he was for
Gruden then why wouldn’t he be again and now

I don't know for sure and from what I was told a month ago, he wasn't against the candidate that big money wanted.

Something may have changed or it's as I expect if Gruden isn't the next coach, he said no. There's 0 chance that he wants the job, UT has huge boosters like Ergen backing him and UT says no to him. That's just my opinion. It would get out and in a much bigger way than through this board if that happened. There'd be a bloodletting.

You guys are so hopelessly attached to this thread you've inserted your own catheters and feeding tubes but you've forgotten about the proper hygiene aspect.

Oh, I see you are here to empty my foley bag again. Thanks!

So with the power struggle going on, my next question is just how much power does Gov. Haslam have in this...politically speaking.

And Phil and Peyton are way more beloved than the Haslams. I believe they are the secret sauce to this too...

Now you guys understand why I was “very very happy” from my post earlier this week.

Hate to say it but sometimes you just have to stand up and be heard. I am glad someone is standing up to Haslem. Swain even alluded to the problem this a.m. on the show, saying "everybody knows who is making the decisions up here and it isn't the President." Stand up to the problem; Haslem.

Keep up the good work Beaver. Keep pushing.

Also, I am not totally for the empty Neyland deal but when you have state run media out there saying Botch stays possibly even next year, someone needs a message! Empty Neyland wouldn't be a thing unless the fans were continuing to hear Botch may stay. Also if Haslem is standing in the way of Botch hitting the door, he needs a message from the fans, too. Or the school will get the message and decide between all of its donors and fans vs. Haslem. Their choice.

Don’t worry about us. I am extremely skilled in the management of catheters, feeding tubes and trachs-so after Gruden is announced and they stop breathing, I can keep them alive. I am on call for bed baths, as well.

Now,

GTFO!
