Official Jon Gruden Thread XXVI

Everything makes sense, and nothing makes sense. Each day I tell myself just relax, stay away from social media, things will work out in the end and nothing I can do or say will change the outcome. Yet, each day I find myself back here, searching for a clue, a glimmer of hope. Praying that the millionaires in UT Admin and the millionaire boosters are not idiots...they have things under control. I hope that’s the case, but I’m not sure it is. I feel sorry for our players, they are no better off than we are as fans, they have no clue what’s going on. I hope they understand that we have their back.

I would disagree with you there. I believe, and I might be wrong, that there is a duty to report that to the HC and the administration. If the assistant coach does not Butch can be in trouble for fostering an environment that an AC deems it better to hide the injury rather than announce it

If it's a reoccurring problem, then maybe. But if the doctors or trainers don't tell the head coach he is having problems, then I don't see how. Again, those people have jobs and are in those positions for a reason. I don't know who makes personnel decisions during a game, but I doubt Butch Jones says who to put in on each play.

I think what we all really want to know though is what is our status with the Iowa Tech coach -Dart Fartsmith? Last I heard we were close...

You know Dart is going to go to Florida. His natural smell will blend right in with the odor emanating from the swamp.

ShoopsScoops from TOS (join date Oct 6 2017) posted this (TIFWIW):

"Lock this one down. Jon Gruden, while he did purchase a home in the Knoxville area, has no intention of coaching at Tennessee in 2018. First-hand knowledge from someone who is as close to the man as you can really get"

Can anyone vouch for this poster?

Troll. Even the ones that think Gruden is BS still think the guy is a troll.

You've made a giant leap of logic which gives you a faulty conclusion for two separate reasons.

1. Does this situation fall under the auspices of "every conceivable sideline matter?" I would tend to disagree because BKs symptoms were being displayed on the field. So as someone who is presumably paying attention to the on field play with an attention to detail not possessed of the average fan it seems reasonable that he would notice one of his OL wiffing on blocks and looking confused.

2. Let's assume for the sake of argument that Butch did not notice. Wells appears to have been acutely aware of the situation and didn't report it to med staff or Butch. This is going to be deemed a failure on Butch's part to properly train his staff. The taint of Well's failure will be attributed to Butch.

BK was being given leadership reps. In all seriousness though, it would not surprise me to hear that phrase, in conjunction with the circumstances surrounding BK, come out of Butch's mouth. This clown could make the circus blush! A charlatan to the nth degree!

If he purchased on weekend of Georgia game, it was the same weekend I heard that Butch gone was for sure..

If he closes on the Haslam house as is indicated on TOS that would say that the Haslam's must be on board with the Gruden hire???

Big IF's of course and a stretch... but just a thought

Wasn't the house on lyons view? The one I thought that people were referring to has been on the market for 70 days. If that's the case, then it wasn't just made available for him.

I'm not entirely positive on the actual house, but if it's the one I believed it to be then it's been on the market for a little over 2 months.

Another Grumor from VQ..

"My brother is close with the son of a very well-off and well-connect TN family. Think name on building type of well-off. Said son would laugh at my brother at the mention of grumors until monday, when he Spoke with his parents who said they’d spoke with one of their friends on the board who confirmed that we’d offered Gruden $10million and that he was deeply considering the offer.

I haven’t heard an update on where we stand 4 days later, but as of Monday we had a big fish on the line."

This was posted right before a Gruden thread got deleted

That was never confirmed, Haslams might have 100 houses in Knoxville.

Which leaves us scratching our heads as to why an unmitigated disaster is still prowling our sidelines on Saturdays.

Because Currie has his man and his man is part of the plan he presents today at 3 to BOT. He’s locked it down at the cost of looking like a buffoon by agreeing to a buyout with Butch after Georgia(the first chance to lower the boom). Butch provides cover to the situation by agreeing to stay through homecoming game, hence his droning depressed mood at pc’s. By keeping a lid on it, he knows he won’t have to hire search firms or look into bs alternatives because the boosters are through with those ways and what they’ve produced. It’s a new day.

Please 8 pound 6 oz baby Jesus let this be true.....

That's a bit of a stretch, it's buying a house, not a job. If Haslam has been sitting on that house for a while and can't sell then he'd take whatever offer came his way at some point.

You can't just sit on a house that expensive and keep eating the cost of it, especially if you're not living in it any more.

So my opinion, I wouldn't assume Haslam is on board just cause he is rumored to have sold his house to Gruden.

Yup, that is why I provide all the information I was given and not just what they posted.

I feel like it will get crazier before this all ends. “Credible” posters with rock solid sources will pop up, our own insiders will be thrown off the trail and it will be gloomier than ever. Everyone will get testy with each other and the “I told you so” crowd will be in full assault mode. Unless a hero shows up...
