So are you saying in order for us to hire Gruden that we must also fire Currie and hire Fulmer as AD?
While that would be wonderful in so many aspects, I'll take Big Jim stepping aside so We can put bama a short distance in our rear view mirror. I digress and wait for DRV's answer !

The Grude News, the morning edition. For those just tuning in.

OX0yQ.gif

A beer discussion was had last night and determined not a darn one of us has any taste whatsoever in beer. Except me of course and I love my Hoegaarden. And I dare one of you to claim Chimay is beer. If you drink it out of a wine glass, it's no longer beer...and pull your damn pinky finger in while drinking.

Otherwise, slow news. Which could be good news.

Apparently I missed the great Grude Gif Off yesterday. I was informed by Poppa T the winners included: ENKI won the unofficial title of GIF-Master Flash. Power T Rev won the GIF Dilly Dilly Award and because his dancing girl GIF, Squints received the title of Gruden Grinder'S GIF Master.

On that note, dancing girls were banned afterwards. Well, at least the dancing girls we'd prefer.

knoxswim890 won last night's award for "Most usage of the word equilibrium in a post ever". Likely never to be topped either.

Beaver made an appearance and went all Hyrum Graff on us last night. Cryptic post that ran the cognitive abilities of several posters. And he owes me a drink.

Big day on the Hill with the BOT meeting. The Athletics Committee meets today, so it'll be interesting to see what comes out of that.

UTVolinExile finally showed back up.

In Knoxville news, a man driving a HAZMAT truck was seen stopping in Knoxville to give Currie a piece of his mind. Less than 39 seconds into the visit, he was hurled out the door by the intramural ladies field hockey team and chased off as they continued to pursue and beat him with their field hockey sticks. The man old enough to be their father was seen whimpering and crying by the famous Rock as he drew frowny faces and mumbled "but my jeans!"

In other news a new super sleuthing spy and investigation agency was started by Hawk and SFD today. Combining the best elements of Nancy Drew, Kojak and the Hardy Boys with Daft Punk costumes, this agency vows to find all lost kittens, evidence of ancient aliens and completely analyze the works of Nostradamus in order to see if he foretold the coming of Gruden to the Vols. We here at Volnation News will follow their cases closely

From the entire Volnation News Team, I'm Grand Vol and what we've got here is a failure to communicate.

(All information herein is specifically parody unless otherwise indicated by real posters or events)

My understanding is the man in the hazmat truck was seen lured away from Currie's office by the girls hockey team to watch them have a pillow fight in their underwear.

Rumor is, the jeans have never failed him..

The analogy is still not the same. We are talking about one's actions as opposed to knowing something about another. A passenger in a vehicle can't be charged with DUI whether he knew the driver was drunk or not.

If Butch knew and did nothing about it, then it's a problem. But if Butch didn't know, then it's not on him. It's not strict liability on the head coach. Again, why hire professionals if you are blaming the head coach who is managing the game? It's still not a good look, but I don't see an issue for Butch unless more comes out.

I would disagree with you there. I believe, and I might be wrong, that there is a duty to report that to the HC and the administration. If the assistant coach does not Butch can be in trouble for fostering an environment that an AC deems it better to hide the injury rather than announce it

Please tell me that for all intensive purposes is correct.

curl up in the feeble position is another of my personal faves...

Hey, if someone wants to put together a list of all that, I'll link it in mine. I don't want my list to become a catch-all for grammatical errors :)

I only have a minute but I wanted to say:

-I believe Currie has to make his choice before he presents at 3 PM.

-in biblical times the king's right hand man would be a eunuch, someone who had been castrated to prevent them from becoming power hungry. For Currie to accept this deal, he is willfully making himself a eunuch to the whole lot of them. That isn't what he has spent his career building in his own mind.

I have no idea about any timeline...

But I have no doubt that Currie is in an extremely uncomfortable position.
And he does not control anything personally.

Based simply on the posted by Duckriver.... if his synopsis is accurate then I would say we are dealing with a power struggle between the Haslams in Knoxville (and their supporter) and the Elgins (sp) and their supporters .................

There is not much we can do if that is the case, but express out desire for Gruden and see who has the most power in the end...... This much I know... WIN OR LOSE..... this battle will not be fought without blood shed (not literal but figurative of course)

I think it's more of the Haslams against everybody with a few playing on both sides of the fence.

The question that will dog him is whether he should have known. Most people are probably going to answer that in the affirmative. Also, he is going to be held accountable for the actions of Scott Wells.

Wells is going to deny any wrong doing. Nobody is going to believe him, but the denial puts Butch squarely in the cross hairs because it is his responsibility to make sure his assistants are trained to spot and report head injuries.

This is going to take Butch down and might ruin his future head coaching prospects.

Brett Kendrick would like to respond to this. Oh wait, he can't because he is still healing from his head injury that no one seemed to have noticed.

The legend of the jeans continues!

All UT system schools opted out. I would not read too much into this.

I have a hard time believing that that issue has much impact here. I could be wrong but I don't see the time in.

i was thinking it was important because Hubbs said pay attention to the meetings tommorrow, and the next day this was released.

i know nothing.

ps - how bout that multiquote!

Currie is at a fork in the road and he needs to take it 😄

My uncle's brother was friends with Yogi. This one he would say tongue in cheek, because he lived on a cul de sac. No matter which way you turned you would still get to his house. (Just an irrelevant fact) :)

That's IF (and I imagine he probably is) Currie is only looking at this through he lens of power politics. He could just as easily view it as a cooperation of mutual interests, if he were so inclined.

For the record, though, I think Currie's problem has more to do with incompetence than intransigence.

i know nothing.

Regardless of what Hubbs said, there were editorials written across the state urging schools to opt out. This about local jobs and politics, not sports.
