The Grude News, evening edition. For those just tuning in.
Another Wednesday press conference with Jones at the helm. As expected, softball questions overall. But Jones looked "defeated" in some poster's words.
VFL Antone Davis resigned today. Not sure if it's significant, but the timing is certainly odd.
We were invaded by lawyers again today, but HearForGrumors gave more thoughtful insight on the situation as it stands. Even ClearWaterVol set aside his smarmy lawyer-ry side and helped interpret some of the messages from the AD today.
Boro dropped a bomb that all official visits from recruits were cancelled for this weekend. Again, could be significant.
Basically, it seems to add up to what everyone has been telling us. No offficial visits since early October, Jones not Tweeting, rumors of a buyout in place. He gone. Yet...he's still here which vexes us.
Which Boro seems to think the concussion situation with Kendrick would bring Jones and agent back to the negotiating table for quite a different deal. (I think Boro now has more mentions in the updates than anyone. Someone give that man a cookie)
And Kendrick out for this weekend. Questions to be answered...
The Comb, while having a limited vocabulary, tends to bring spirits up with a well placed "Gruden to the hill!" at just the right times. Bravo sir. You are a saint.
Okay, screw it. I'm not wading through a thousand posts looking for nuggets. You guys fill me in for a change.
Please, that is. And back to the rest of the known news.
Negotiations between Freak and the Army Corps of Engineers broke down today. Ongoing negotiations were to dredge the Tennessee River and build a new canal in order for the Grude 1 yacht to be able to anchor at Neyland for game days. Freak believed they were being stubborn, however, ACE representatives gave these comments:
"Look, we're trying to work with Mister Freak here. But we found his route to be...peculiar. I mean, we'd like to accommodate him, but the proposed route for excavation would require the demolition of Ben Hill Griffen Stadium in Gainesville, Sanford Stadium in Athens, Bryant Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa and Nick Saban's personal residence. And to top it off, he wanted his canal to circle Tuscaloosa which would, in effect, create a moat around the city. We're also unsure if we can get the required permits from the Fish and Wildlife Service to place sharks and alligators in this moat."
Freak declined to give a statement, however, sent his Public Affairs representative Knucklehead for a quick statement. Statement was "GTFO" and ended the press conference.
From the entire Volnation News Team, I'm Grand Vol and looks like I've been missing a lot of work lately. But I wouldn't say I've been missing it, Bob.
