Understandable, I saw how it came across and edited right after I posted it.

I just don't like when fans attack other fans and call them fair weather or what not when they've been putting up with it just like everyone else and finally decided they've had enough and want to do something about it.

This thread is a labyrinth of lies, BS, smoke and truth. Many of us seem to have at least put the coherent pieces together, but where it gets fuzzy is at the confluence of Haslam, AA and AD. Figuring this out is damn near as hard as any of us fellas figuring out our wives and why they want us to watch sappy movies, while crying and eating chocolate gluttonously.

I get all that, and it is 100% accurate. However, the issue is perception. These "big" guys have egos bigger than their wallets. Seeing 60k in Neyland on Homecoming on a nationally televised brodcast is extremely embarrassing for the "brand" of UT. A negative national perception is more important to these guys than that. No, it won't hurt the bottom line this year. What it does is erode the brand, making their prior investments worth less. Having 35k rammer jammers raining down on Shields Watkins field was the nail for Fulmer. These guys don't enjoy looking weak.

This is one of the most accurate post i have seen . Empty seats show the future of their cash cow . IT shows that the consumer (fans) are not going to buy the product (game day). They aren't going to make a move until the see at least 25000 empty seats. Its always went down this way always will.

Not sure what that has to do with it. They didn't hire those guys hoping they would lose. First one was just a bad hire from a bad AD.

I don't have time to keep up with posts that are at 270 pages after a day. I said in my first post, I get it's a big name and would make a huge splash, I just don't understand why everyone thinks it's a slam dunk. 29 years out of college coaching is more time than away from the game than a very large portion of the people on this board have been alive, I would guess. Maybe he takes it. If he does, I hope he f'ing kills it and dominates the SEC.

You are talking about 18 year olds who want to play football. They also want a good person to lead them. I believe Butch is that person- just not a very good football coach. If that makes you feel better, then good for you.

I tried to listen to his show yesterday for the first time in a while. It was very whiny. I like the guy. Love when he does his on air football analysis... very good stuff. But really hard to listen to when he’s pushing a narrative. I get it... that’s what he’s supposed to do. But no thanks.
