Official Jon Gruden Thread XXIX

Please don’t attribute something to me I’ve never said. I’m 100% confident that Tennessee will do everything we can to get this done.

I don’t know Ainge

My apologies. Someone posted that they knew Ainge on here and can't remember who. said he feels different off radio about Butch.

Basillo just said a few minutes ago that Butch HAS Not been told for sure he's fired.

Now that would be a disaster if he was back. Based on many conversations I do believe he is gone.

This is why I voted "No" in the poll in the other thread. Butch is still the coach until he isn't. They haven't fired him yet after this unmitigated disaster, so I'll believe it when and if I see it.

You honestly think Butch is going to tell the whole world that he’s getting fired soon?

He’s just playing the game until the season is over with.

Ainge is just trying to rain on Fox Sports Knoxville's Grumor parade. He tries to defuse any story they break, and even went as far as to refer to them as millenial media on Finebaum earlier this season. He knows nothing, just has a personal vendetta against those guys.

Well its a pretty strong statement to do it on your on-air show if he doesnt know something.

Ainge has been known to celebrate an outcome before it happens only to look like a fool when it didn’t happen.

For reference, his gator chomp.

Here is my take on the whole situation.

The guys in the media mostly have ties to the AD side. Nothing is coming out of the AD period.

They then try to reach out to acquaintances they know and they are going to be tight lipped as well.

The only folks that are leaking info are the ones that are trying to leverage the AD to get that they want.

Other than those select few individuals we aren't going to hear anything from anyone.

I believe there are offers out, I think Gruden may or may not have accepted yet but is close. He could have been possibly signed a MOU.

The only real thing I know is that I don't know. Only a handful of folks do know and I hope what they have told us is true.

Gruden could change the trajectory of the program with his name alone and Tennessee needs him badly.

So I choose to believe and hope a we have been told is true.

Soon!!!

If you want to go that route, he went on to say he was all in on Tennessee getting Gruden in 2012 just to appeal to listeners and get clicks. Claimed to have no knowledge on the situation later, but lead people on to believe that Gruden was coming.

I think he has been told. There is no way a competent ad let's this continue without addressing it with the coach.

I dont disagree with this. I also believe he is still fighting to stay.

He has failed miserably and a casual fan could see that.

Quote:

.Somebody asked him what his thoughts were about Chip Kelly to Florida. Finebaum responded with he didn't think that's where Kelly's thought process was at. He said he sees Kelly every Sunday morning but would never ask him directly what his plans were, but did say in his opinion there was only one school in the SEC that he thought Kelly would consider coaching at. Laura Rutledge asked Tennessee and Finebaum said yes, if not somewhere out on the west coast.

They then went on to address Jon Gruden possibilities to Tennessee. Both he and Rutledge agreed that at one time it seemed laughable, but they were warming up to the thought a bit more given a little more knowledge of the situation. I thought it interesting that Finebaum went on to say that he thought if Gruden did coach again that it would be at the college level. Just thought he was basically too big of a rock star for an NFL job where most coaches take a back seat with the fans and how that's not the case in college. Both agreed he would kill it recruiting as a closer if he hired the right staff to do the majority of the leg work. Now I paraphrased most of this on memory, but I think it's pretty accurate. Anyway...just thought I'd share.
From TOS about Finebaum

So Ainge knows more than Finebaum?

He said this today on radio?
