Official Jon Gruden Thread XXIX

For those thinking that Gruden is looking for an NFL job, well he's had 10 years to do so.

Gruden would have already been back in the NFL if he truly wanted to coach again there again.

College probably suits him better anyway.

When Ainge's name is mentioned literally the first image that comes to mind is him flipping the ball backwards from his own 10 us line vs LSU in 2005 for a pick 6.

Me and my son have always called that the Ainge play when we’ve seen other QB do it 😂🤣😂

Anyone think that Gruden would get Jim Bob Cooter as OC? If so I think we could have a legitimate shot on Trevor Lawrence. Hate the early signing period this season and bet Clemson will push for him to sign early.

Would be cool. I’d love to see something like that happen, and someone like JBC be ready to step in as head coach after Gruden got bored of winning national championships.

Ok I have to sleep now. Work sucks. See you all tomorrow when I get a chance to log on and read 23 pages to catch up.

^This!^ I try to skimm or read every post because I never know when I might miss a nugget if I don't. I guess I'm a bit compulsive, huh?

I'll want to comment on something but I'm 23 pages behind (50 ppp) so I don't. I know when I get to what I posted, it will be totally out of context, or the question will already have already been posted and answered, or 4 other people will have already posted the same information!

I've become a lurker instead of a participant but I'm here y'all!

SOON!

Agreed. I told my partner here at our place of business on Friday before that game that he would throw a pick 6 and blow it. Great talent lacked focus poise..intellectually challenged..crumbled

Erik Ainge is absolutely bashing any possibility of Gruden coming to TN on his show right now. He said he knows personal friends oh Gruden who told him last night there is ZERO chance he coaches college. TIFWIW

I like Ainge
He’s VFL and one of ours.
But, I liked him a lot more when he was always stoned and slinging the ball backwards in the Georgia Dome than now that he’s sobered up and joined State Run Radio.

I don’t agree with EA, but let’s leave his personal demons out of it. Overcoming addiction is a huge accomplishment. Attack his decisions on the field or the way he talks about fans or his bowing down to all things BJones. But attacking his addiction is juvenile and uncalled for.

This. This. This. Everyone personally attacking him because of that are low blowing him just because they don't agree with what he said is wrong.

No matter what anyone says EA is a VFL still even if he has "sold out". He's literally put blood, sweat, and tears into this program.

You said you know Ainge right? If so why is he saying no Gruden to Tennessee and you say it's happening 100%

Please don’t attribute something to me I’ve never said. I’m 100% confident that Tennessee will do everything we can to get this done.

I don’t know Ainge

EA Just turned around and said exactly what his (supposed) sources told him on the radio. Do you really think any reliable source would tell him anything since he just showed the world how untrustworthy he is.

GTFO yourself. Everyone has an opinion. I had breakfast with a person that just rolled their eyes and laughed about this thread. Yea they give a lot to UT.

Everyone would love to have Jon at UT, he is just not going to coach at the collegiate level. He has been looking at NFL jobs though.

Panera or Waffle House?

Ainge is just trying to rain on Fox Sports Knoxville's Grumor parade. He tries to defuse any story they break, and even went as far as to refer to them as millenial media on Finebaum earlier this season. He knows nothing, just has a personal vendetta against those guys.

Seems like their is a ton of information our there. I don't see how there is no announcement until after Vanderbilt

Why not? That's now less than 3 weeks away. It's pretty clear that if they've waited this long, they're going to wait until Vandy or at least until we're not bowl eligible.

EA and Basilio were all in on Gruden last time. I think that's why they're not buying in this time.

I get that but when Paul Finebaum, Barrett Sallee, and Laura Rutledge open discuss it on their show, NEVER say NEVER.

I'm skeptical, but I do believe that there are certain boosters who what this happen, and are willing to go to great lengths to make it happen.

I'm just concerned if Gruden truly wants to be a head coach in college football.

If he does then UT has a good shot at landing him. JMO.

Basillo just said a few minutes ago that Butch HAS Not been told for sure he's fired.

Now that would be a disaster if he was back. Based on many conversations I do believe he is gone.
