With the way everything is dragging on and on so far, it really gets frustrating. Although I'm not so sure that's a bad thing. If Currie didn't already have the next coach in line and ready to go I'm sure Butch would have been gone weeks ago in order to give time for hiring search firm and get the ball rolling on a search. It just gives me a giddy confidence that we have Gruden locked up as ready to go. Time for some much needed sleep but here to hoping tomorrow brings us the announcement of Butches firing at the very least. Go Vols and have a Gruden.

This thread is the only thing getting me through this season. The rest of it is depressing.

I was at about 85%. I am now at 65%. Mostly because I really don't think that this administration has any friggin clue what they are doing. Although, they Are taking us on one hell of a ride that will agaim end in disappointment. I hope I am wrong.

That is the exact situation that got Fulmer fired. Myer at Florida, Riecht at Georgia, and a new coach at Bama named Saban. And I might add Spurrier at USC.

What we have been watching play out has been one big complex negotiation with multiple factions.

We all know the parties of those factions. One party "appears" to know what they are doing more than the other and has been utilizing the tools (chess pieces) available to them better than others. Tools that some did not recognize as tools.

Critical success factors are determining the other parties' WANTS/NEEDS hierarchy and determining what their BATNA (Best Alternative to No Agreement) position is.

Successful negotiators help the other party understand that what they think is a NEED is really a WANT and going from there.

For example: Admin/Academics think that they NEED control, but that is really a WANT. What they really NEED is the $$$.

Apply each of these principals to the various negotiations with each participants (Haslams; Boosters that will not be named; Admin/Academia; UTAD; Jones; Target coach).

That is what is being played out. The timing, etc, will all be determined based on whether or not someone is getting their WANT or NEED. A successful negotiations is one in which all parties walk away feeling like they won.

Post in another thread said they gathered the team and asked if they wanted an interim or Butch to finish the year. They all wanted him to finish the year and that will be announced tomorrow a la Fulmer.

Claims to know a parent of a team member that told him this.

Not sure who' the person that posted this is but an interesting spin why the media was put in alert because if they wanted an interim and Butch was gone it would have leaked by now. I guess we will see tomorrow.

hmmmm. MNF goes through 12/25 so unless there is a clause in Gruden's contract he cannot be announced for UT until afterwards
