As of 6:00 CT, the main booster hadn't cleared firing Butch before end of season. They are all on board, and have been, with letting him go at end of season, but there's disagreement about firing during the season.

RagingOrange I hate to rehash

Probably TLDR, but for those that care. This is JMO.

What we have been watching play out has been one big complex negotiation with multiple factions.

We all know the parties of those factions. One party "appears" to know what they are doing more than the other and has been utilizing the tools (chess pieces) available to them better than others. Tools that some did not recognize as tools.

Critical success factors are determining the other parties' WANTS/NEEDS hierarchy and determining what their BATNA (Best Alternative to No Agreement) position is.

Successful negotiators help the other party understand that what they think is a NEED is really a WANT and going from there.

For example: Admin/Academics think that they NEED control, but that is really a WANT. What they really NEED is the $$$.

Apply each of these principals to the various negotiations with each participants (Haslams; Boosters that will not be named; Admin/Academia; UTAD; Jones; Target coach).

That is what is being played out. The timing, etc, will all be determined based on whether or not someone is getting their WANT or NEED. A successful negotiations is one in which all parties walk away feeling like they won.

What is the hangup with doing it now?

If they don’t have/aren’t gonna get Gruden or Kelly then I could care less what they do from here on out.

Well again, thanks for a great first day on here. Being from Chattanooga have heard multiple times the Harris kid from Baylor like Cade Mayes wants to play for Tennessee just not Butch Jones. Imagine Gruden making a visit to them, Trevor Lawrence etc... plus what a public relations and moral boost. I think we all not only want that, all Big Orange nation needs that.

What if the mandatory day off did affect when they tell the team first?

This crossed my mind as well. The 2 most plausible scenarios for the hold up seem to be:

1. The trouble of who is the interim.
2. An inability to tell the team tonight, so they wanted to wait until tomorrow and tell them before leaking it.

Either of those scenarios make sense. From what BCarter said, as well as what Hubbs said on the radio, it seems obvious Butch is gone, and has been informed of such.

Knowing that Butch is gone and there seemingly being no rush to officially fire him and make it public, I see as a good thing. To me, it gives credence to what many have said, and what I have heard, that Gruden is somewhere between "close to a done deal" and "100% done".

Be patient. Go Vols. And Grude on.

Doyle's Grudometer down to 40% because of...
Nope.
You know what?
If Currie doesn't have to explain the stuff he's doing, I don't have to explain why the Grudometer went down.

If we are to believe the information Atlanta has said, I expect a bunch of boosters to have to walk away with their wallets before this is over.

Sorry to be the sad panda tonight. Yesterday just broke me. And the simple fact Florida had the balls to relieve McElwain today just exposes the ineptitude on the part of the AD. The writing was on the wall weeks ago. No insider info, no rumors, no whispered conversations. Nothing will change the fact that person filling the top spot in UT football should have been relieved two weeks ago.

Hang in their GV! I'm around 70%

I can’t wait! Celebration the day Gruden is named Tennessee HC.
