From an AD perspective, this doesn't make sense. Why would Butch be given a deal, only to also be given the keys to the ranch, where his inaction could have even greater ramifications on this program for years to come? It wouldn't surprise me, though. Nothing about UT has surprised me since the Monday following the SC game in '08.

He's in thin ice because the more he loses games he shouldn't be losing, and if it's true that he still wants to coach again, other programs are gonna look at his resume as far as who he lost to and that could be damaging

Here's the thing though... If he does get let go, he'll have the option to take ANY open job in the NFL or college.

Based on no action by Currie means 1 of 2 things.

1 - if Jones finishes out the end of the year he is looking at coaches that are currently coaching teams.

2 - he might retain Butch next year.

3 - He's in over his head and doesn't recognize the the damage he is doing to the program by allowing this to continue.
