Official Jon Gruden Thread XXIV

I am trying to wrap my brain around why Currie would be so out in the open per say, by being photographed scowling the last 2 weekends. Is he trying to project an image of being not happy, like he is aware of what we already know? Or, is he trying to appear like the hard nose manager that we want him to be, but in turn he actually is not? Just seems odd.

From last AD experiences he may just be holding in a poop

That was never going to happen. Butch should be fired but he deserves some decorum. He's brought us to the point that this job will be attractive to many coaches including Gruden. It's time for him to go though.

InVOL speaks the truth. Butch needs to go but I don’t hate the man nor do I wish ill upon him or his family.

Make the move - Gruden to the Hill!

The only good thing about that article is that it puts Currie and/or Gruden in a position to make a statement. I would think that it would.

Solid assessment and if Butch is at practice Tuesday he will be here against Vandy and he will likely set another record and lose 8 or even 9. We can't match up with anyone else on our schedule. We want a spark but are only getting smoke.

If he is here next week, I see zero reason to let him go until the end of the season or we have another coach lined up... JMO

My source has always told me that Haslam is a huge obstacle to anything in the AD. When I've asked him if this or that can happen, it's always "If Haslem will get out of the way!" I'm starting to think Haslam is in the way again. I don't think Currie is calling the shots or having much of a say right now. I also think that's why Currie is our AD.

Big Jim or silver spoon son

So I’m still in Lexington. UK fans actually feel sorry for us Tennessee fans. Not a single one has talked any crap about the win. It’s kinda weird and not what I expected

I agree with you about Kelly and Patterson. The AD needs a big name hire. The fan base cant tolerate another Google coach. Too much risk

IMO, the fan base's initial reaction is somewhat irrelevant as long as the hire turns out good. The new coach must win games early, or the apathy of the fan base will reach a point of no return.

Ok so what is Fox Sports reason for not breaking it?

Let's say your ESPN theory is correct, still doesn't explain why CBS Sports, Fox Sports and Sports Illustrated haven't said anything, heck Yahoo sports hasn't even come out with anything and they're usually pretty good about breaking stories like this

I find it hard to believe all of those networks are all in on some big conspiracy to not break the story

Yeah...really odd that no one at all is talking about Butches ass being on the hot seat, while the fanbase screams for blood.

Because from the AD side there is no story. And that is validated by LWS and all others who get their info from the AD side....

According to them Butch is our man.

While the fanbase squirms.

Doyle's Grudometer is down to 55%.

No offense to anyone but...

I am sick of losing.
I am tired of overpaid underachieving coaches.
I am tired of said coaches being a national punchline.
I am sick of the looks of pity from the fans of our rivals.
I am sick and tired of hoping against hope that the people in charge will suddenly wake up and actually start caring about winning.
I am sick of going through coaching searches every 3-5 years hoping that we will get the level of coach that we deserve only to have to do a Google search when a hire is announced.
I am tired of insider information.
I am sick of being told to have faith and be patient.

It is more than obvious what should be done.
Why is it not being done?

For me, the time of getting excited over insider's cryptic posts has passed. All of that news, good or bad, is meaningless until Currie does something.
Enough is enough.
It's time for him to sh!t or get off the pot.

Summed up perfectly.

Long time lurker, first time post.
Thanks for the approval Freak, hope we all get to party on the yacht soon.

So many thoughts, a lot of negativity this morning, and I understand. This seems to be our only remaining outlet of optimism as Vols fans right now.

As far as timing with Gruden, his Corona Call Gruden campaign is slated to run through Oct 31. Perhaps this is playing a role. Can’t imagine NCAA being to kind to a beer sponsored HC.

Soon!

Aye, contrary to what people may say in this thread, Currie is not the super secret ninja AD, controlling information, that he is made out to be. If he were, he'd be the most overqualified person for an AD job ever.
