And this is why I'm starting to think that Jones will be back next year.
If it was that far into Grden being hired or Jones being fired, we would've seen it by now on ESPN or some other major network, but we haven't.
Plus after the leak of UF looking to fire Mac, their AD came out with a statement saying they weren't.
I just really think we're stuck with him for whatever stupid reason
Tell us what you think is going on.
I don't claim to know, but based on what I'm told, Currie is hesitant to fire Butch, has been for a while. He knows he will eventually, but is not a fan of the "interim" angle. But there is increasing pressure, from fans, boosters and the Gruden side of things. I think Currie's plan has been to delay the firing as long as possible. I couldn't disagree more with the logic, but that's the way it seems to be.
The more the door closes on a potential bowl game, the easier the decision will become, but I won't speculate on when he lets Butch go.
I don't agree with this logic. But I've been saying all week, there's friction over the timing of all this. It's not what we want to hear, but it's the truth and we've seen it for a few weeks now.
Look, I'm not here to trash your party so i'm going to largely stay out of this thread, but I do stop by to see if there is anything worth note once in a while. So far... nothing.
Gruden will not come to Ut unless he is put in a win/win situation. Gruden does not get involved with opportunity for failure. Currie, a very smart, experienced guy, with lots of experience being around guys who know what they are doing at kansas state, would have to give The Grud EVERYTHING. he would have to relinquish all control and pull in every donor favor and political favor in his position, the very shirt off his back to Gruden. Gruden will not come unless he can walk away and still be a winner.
Currie will not do that and niether would I.
You assume Gruden's name alone would have some pull with recruits... I have no idea and niether do you, despite what you want to believe, but I can say this for certainty. HE BETTER WIN. HE BETTER FLIPPING WIN, or not only will what ever pull you imagine him to have be lost in a hurry, but so will your football program, and the sports department at UT in general. HE BETTER WIN, or it's over.
Matt Campbell is 1000* a better gamble. He maybe a little expensive, but proven, and he would tie you in chains or leave you in rags.
Edit, Sorry about any spelling, I switched to a pc not long ago and cannot type on it for the life of me.
Largest donor with an ego the size of the smokey mtns. Kiffin, Dooley, Jones, Hamilton,Hart, Currie, all his decisions. Atlanta Vol said a few days ago David Blackburn was a deal in place o be the next AD. If you remember Haslam took Davenport and rushed out at the last minute to interview Currie and twisted Davenport into offering him the job. Had Peyton to go out and try to smooth it over with everyone. All of this lays at his feet.
I believe that they actually prefer to have Butch continue to coach because it allows them to work this deal behind the scenes. If Butch is gone, its open season on everything they are doing. The National media starts watching instead of talking about Butch and if he will be fired. If you are trying to do things in secret then leaving Butch is your best play. At least until its done and you can announce. Just my thoughts and nothing more...
I am not 92 but I think the Gruden deal is NOT a done deal... I think that there a LOT of pressure on Currie from the Boosters to make it happen.... I also think he is trying and Gruden keeps saying NO.... Thus he is stalling until he can try to work it out....
Hopefully he can make it happen.... BUT IT IS NOT A DONE DEAL and NO.. We DON NOT HAVE OUR WHITE WHALE ... not yet anyway
Sorry to interrupt but that is exactly what I think
If FLA jumps out in front of us and lands their next coach first, who is probably on UTs list as well, and Currie allows this become a side show with UT getting passed by with several other schools nailing down their candidates...we will
be in danger of this program slipping into a Vandy like abyss of college football. And somewhere David Blackburn will be laughing his @$$ off at this entire administrations collective incompetence.

Who do you want to hire?

I fully believe in 1 and 4. I expected him to be fired this week but am hearing it is not gonna happen. That makes me very suspicious of 2 and 3.
