Thing is that never did I say he was a bad coach and never did I say he couldn't succeed as a college coach. My point was that he is far from a guaranteed success like some are portraying him to be and that there are guys out there that Tennessee can get who are guaranteed to succeed.
I was super shocked and then more shocked when they started winning.
I wouldn't consider stating his career win % and college coaching experience to be weak or closed minded. Those are facts which last I checked are something of substance. I presented those facts and just asked what the big obsession with Gruden is. You're the one telling me to gtfo because you disagree with me which actually which actually makes you the closed minded one.
Hey, I've got an idea.
From now on, when someone comes in and asks the why we want Gruden - no college coach, yada yada ... just link this:
jon gruden do you love football - Google Search
tell them to read this, then come back.
I'll play even tho he's gone regardless BUT if your "source" is saying "most likely is gone" after losing that much to Kentucky....you really need to get another source, seriously !Butch's fate, according to my source, depends on record and what happens in games. Basically a fluid situation. We go to Kentucky tomorrow and lose 45-0...Butch most likely is gone.
I can see why a lot of people are weary of Gruden being a college coach. Obviously there is not much evidence that he would succeed in college. However, what makes me a believer is the fact that I know Gruden understands the game of football. He knows the Xs and Os of the game and has a higher football IQ than about anybody else in football. He may have to learn the recruiting aspect of the college game, but I believe recruits would jump at the opportunity to play for him. After a season or two, Gruden would be well caught up on college recruiting and his name alone would help us get great classes in his early years. Plus, unlike Butch, he would surround himself with quality coaches that would develop talent and help him succeed. I know with Gruden our football program would be in good hands and he would come here expecting to win championships. Real championships.
