What about going 12-13 the two seasons before Harbaugh and going 25-8 since would you consider not working out too well? He's only in year 3 and that program is back being mentioned with the big boys again. Sure, this year they aren't meeting expectations, but I have a feeling they are still banking on more success in the future.

In his defense, (no pun intended) he lost 44 players from last year. They are very young.

Michigan opened their wallet....hasn't worked out for them to well. Tomorrows biggest star coach is out there somewhere just waiting to be found. May not be a current "Big name" either:acute:

Yeah and it nearly destroyed Bama and Clemson seeking out a name coach hurt them as well.... so sad :)

And now I shall perform an excerpt from Lord of the Vols:

*ahem*

"I know. It’s all wrong. By rights we shouldn’t even be here. But we are. It’s like in the great stories. The ones that really mattered. Full of Alabama beatings and Florida embarrassments they were. And sometimes you didn’t want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could our football team go back to the way it was when so much losing had happened?

But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even mediocrity must pass. A new coach will come. And when the Gruden shines it will shine out the clearer. Those will be the seasons that stay with you. They will mean something. Even if you are too happy to understand why.

But I think I do understand. I know now. Folk in those bad years had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn’t. Because they were holding on to something.

What are we holding on to?

That there’s some good Vols football in this world. And it’s worth fighting for."

I found it kind of interesting last week on an episode of the Swain Event that he said multiple times that Gruden would be a Saban-esque hire. It was in response to a caller I believe. It wasn’t so much that everyone doesn’t already know that Gruden would be a game changer, but it seemed like he was actually excited about the prospects. Just my read on it, but Swain holds back (rightfully so) on insider info, but he will drop nuggets sometimes and reference them later. Who knows, maybe he does know something.

I listened to swain today... He wouldnt go anywhere near it....the odd thing is I listened to all the sports talk shows today.. No one even really even calls in about it.... You know... To push the issue

The Grude News, evening edition. For those just tuning in.

I will start the update with an apology. It was my idea to bring LG here. Typically, he gives some good banter back and forth and is reasonable outside the PF realm. I would have imagined he would have seen the fun nature of this thread and joined in. But I didn't realize he had a thorny locust branch stuck up his backside and was going to go into straight a-hole mode today. For that, I do apologize to the readers and followers.

And on another serious note. PLEASE KEEP FAMILY OUT OF POSTS! We all agree Jones needs to move on, but family really needs to be off limits. Let's place our anger in the right spot and NOT directed at those that cannot influence the games on the field.

What did we learn today?

Faceless thinks Baker Mayfield and Matthew McConaughey are hot.

Likely most of the VN Ladies are in agreement on the second part of that statement even if he does cheer for the way wrong orange. This isn't necessarily important to a coaching search...maybe. Figured the ladies of VN needed a shout out even though he is a classless actor that cheers for Texas.

No gratuitous Matthew McConaughey pics though. That would be weird. Well, weird for me Googling such things. Someone else can do that.

Gifs just keep giving. This thread is certainly a 56K and mobile nightmare. Who am I kidding, it's an NSA server's worst nightmare. Especially after LG stopped by. Not only was he added to the list, but had more GTFO pics than I've ever seen. Bravo, folks. He deserved it.

Apparently Swain might know a little more than he's letting on. I'd say we need to let things develop along those lines.

Reddit was blowing up with the idea that Jones is out after Saturday. This kind of dovetails with DocVol's news from earlier today. It could be someone from Reddit was reading over here. I'd trust in our own sources prior to them. No offense to Reddit.

We're still on the sunny side of "SOON!" though it seems like a lot of information wasn't out there today. Our normal sources haven't said much since the noon update (all times are Central for those wondering) but no cause for alarm at this point. Silence is good.

In other news, Freak's new yacht sank today due to "excessive alcohol tonnage." Ape vows to "drink it back to the surface."

Well, that wraps up today's events. I'll see you fine folks first thing in the morning.

From the entire Volnation News Team, I'm Grand Vol. GFY, Tuscaloosa.

Here's what I know: There's one potential hangup with any JG deal. It's initials are FFCA. JG would like to stay involved but complications w/compliance have to be resolved.

What am I talking about? This is from Saturday

I was fortunate enough to be born into a family that's close with two decent coordinators and their families from the 1990's (subtle hint: fpcd).

I'm not sure what Swain knows these days he has kind of been out in informational purgatory by the AD. So if he is getting information it is through boosters.

This lends credence to the idea that it is more the boosters who are driving the train when it comes to Gruden.... or in the very least they are the ones leaking information
