I know I'm not alone in fantasizing about this during these BS pressers

Quick release. Two passes in before getting sacked. Recruit that guy.

Along with the other reasons that have been stated for Butch perhaps agreeing to negotiate a buyout, I think he would have a good monetary reason for doing so as well. If he is fired, he theoretically gets the full amount, but that amount is offset by his future earnings coaching elsewhere. If he negotiates the buyout, he might accept a lower number in a lump sum, but with no offset for future earnings. Negotiating what that fixed number might be is the trick of the negotiation, for both sides.

As Boro said, it would also allow him to get a head start on getting a new job. I would think that going to a future employer and saying "I was willing to step aside once I realized I wasn't able to better that team anymore" would be a selling point for him.

Several reasons -
1. His families well being. I am sure his wife is probably at her breaking point.

2. UT waits till the end of the season and his buyout is a lot less.

3. Haynesworth and Little showed up last night at his house and asked him to leave politely and said don't make me come back a second time.

Granted you do not want to be in a hostile environment and the media is not helping from Butch's standpoint. Do I want him gone - YES, however gone the right way not due to a safety concern.

I hope and pray number 3 isn't true. That's absolutely disgraceful if true.

I don't think he's self-aware enough to say that. It'll be more like, "The expectations there are unrealistic, and the fans are toxic. We were on the cusp of greatness, but I could no longer subject my family to that atmosphere. Now feel sorry for me and pay me $3 million a year."

That makes me hurt reading that

Butch will become a poor man's Houston Nutt for some bottom feeder team in a P5 conference.

Yeah just wanted to see if there was a significant demeanor change. The grumors were that Butch now knows for sure and has told his family and is just negotiating his buyout. If he's super happy and has a shine in his eye, I'd think this is true...Like a sense of relief. Or maybe the opposite and he's smug and distracted. If it's normal Butch...I wouldn't know what to think

It was dejected depressed Butch today. I think he knows its over.

Well he has a real problem with accepting responsibility so this sounds about right..

And right there is the reason Mr. Currie has slow played this.

Some people, just don't get it. They don't understand some of the subtleties. BTW ... Thanks for the info that you and others have posted. It is a fine line some of you guys walk. Enjoyed it back then and enjoy it now.

Bingo!!!!

This June he tried to strong arm our new AD into a contract extension probably knowing how this season was going to turn out. I have no interest in his family but I am having trouble feeling any sympathy or appreciation towards Butch.

I feel bad for his family if they are getting harassed for his ineffectiveness as a coach..... Because they can't control it.

I feel bad for the seniors on this team because their last season at UT has been turned into a circus..... And they can't control it.

I don't feel bad for CBJ. I would respect him more if he reduced his buyout and left. Just my opinion.
