Per hubbs gruden was at the complex today, attended the practice walkthrough and met with the coaches and team

Of every thing that happened this one thing here seems to indicate there has been no talks with Gruden and are none have been suggested to him up to this point.

I find it difficult to believe that he is in town talking about taking the coaching job at UT and walking through the practice and shaking hands with coaches while planning to take the head coaching job at the same time.... not a reasonable assumption.....

Not saying that he will not be the next head coach at Tennessee... only time will tell, but I do not believe there has been any contact with him up to this point based on what Hubbs is reporting

Go Vol's....

Hahaha....
Your mistake is comparing the Great Grude to a normal coach or a normal human being.
Grude has powers that most of us Don’t.

The Good Lord has given us many hints thruout the years of the different types of Angels 👼 that walk amongst us.
We only have to be open to that concept and fully accept them when they cross our paths.
Is it so impossible to think that the Great Grude might just be our Big Orange 🍊 angel?!

*note - not comparing Gruden to God. Just hoping he is our football 🏈 type Angel to save us from mediocrity.

We are all reading tea leaves at this point. I for one don't find it so far fetched that Jones has been kept in the loop and absolutely knows where he stands and what will happen. I also can see a scenario in which he has had enough and is ready to leave. If Gruden went to a practice yesterday, I really don't read much in to that one way or the other.

< snipped lotsa tweets >

So Illated likes Mark Chesnutt? I do too, actually. The first time I heard "Bubba Shot the Jukebox", I nearly wrecked my car, I was laughing so hard.

Hope that weather forecast is where you live, not where he (Illated) lives...

He works in mysterious ways.

No.... my friend.... I am OG from 2012 and your mistake is in comparing Gruden to my/our Lord and savior....

I want Gruden as my coach, but I already have a God to worship... nice try!!!

Gruden tag homies.. It's a new day and the migraine has left the building. I have a good feeling about this day. Keep the faith brothers and sisters...

Carry on..

I was actually just thinking...I kinda hope the crowd doesn't break into "Gruden Gruden Gruden" chants. I'm ready for Butch to be gone, but I'm not a monster.
Be crazy if that happened... I'm sure word has gotten there already about him being there

Sara, there is some credible to what you are saying..... the big IF here would be IF Butch has been told he will be replaced with Gruden, IF the team has a general understanding as this thread seems to think they understand and IF there has been an agreement in principle already reached....

Only question in my mind is the IF.....

The one thing I believe is true... this news is either very Bad or it is Extremely good! We all must decide for ourselves which we think it is

Makes sense.... but, if we are dreaming, what if we're keeping the staff for now, and still hiring Gruden? Next year, they expand to allow 10 coaches, right? What if Butch takes a demotion to learn how to coach from Gruden? Butch has to know he isn't a very good x's and o's coach, right? He could learn at the feet of a master before moving on and trying again. He can be the recruiting coordinator/assistant coach, with a paycut of course, as well as losing his buyout, which seems perfectly fair for the chance to learn from someone who has achieved greater heights than he has even dreamed. The Great Grude is kind and benevolent, so before firing anyone, he'll at least talk to them to see if they might be able to absorb his wisdom. Those that cannot, will be replaced, after the season.

I don’t care if butch is waiting for a testicular transplant from Gruden!
Just take the freaking reins out of his hand and give them to Gruden, hoke, or damn near anyone at this point.
It’s time for butch to go away

That's what I said. Recruiting coordinator/ assistant coach. That would be his title.

I was VERY careful NOT to compare Gruden to God.
Even in a joking manner, I’m aware that could upset some.
I compared Gruden to an Angel, not God.
Please read my post again, my fellow Christian and Vol.

I don't think Butch has been told that he is already fired. I just absolutely do not believe that.

Now, I think he knows he is in thin ice and needs to win virtually every game left on the schedule to be retained.

I don't know what to make of Gruden visiting practice. At first, I thought it was a bad sign. But, after thinking about it, things would change if/when Butch is officially fired and IF (a big IF) Gruden is interested. Maybe being around the facilities and players will get his interest level up. We can only hope.

I also hope that Gruden has received back-channel informal inquiries. And he probably has: "Jon, if this thing goes south, would you be interested?" But I doubt he would take them seriously until Butch is fired.

if we offered him that job and he turned it down how does that affect his buyout.

I think we would be contractually obligated to pay him his current salary unless he leaves of his own volition. I also don't think there is any possibility of this happening.
